May 22, 200818 yr I roll my left wrist to the right a little in my grip, it will help straighten out your slice. Also practice your putting as much as or more than anything else.
May 22, 200818 yr Two easy tips, first thing to do is address the ball closer to your mid-line. You are standing to far behind the ball its to far up in your stance. I hope that makes sense. Second thing is your swing is outside at top and your coming inside at contact so to stop that move back away from the ball just a little. That way you will feel like your reaching out to hit the ball not just coming down and hitting it. Both of those things will help you have less slice. One thing I like to do and this seems to help is line the logo on the ball up onto a target or even put a line on the ball if you want, then line yourself up with that line and after you hit see how far off target you are. So when your on the course then aim that far off your target. If your htting it a little right then aim out to the left. Thanks bro I have this same problem. I will try that next time I am at the "goat ranch." Just an FYI LTW turned himself into a great golfer after never really playing, he is one of the best I've seen in the Lake Cumberland area. LTW you get to play much in FL or the other crazy places you travel?
May 22, 200818 yr so I hit the driving range for the first time in several years. I had a terrible slice? (to the right) and I just couldnt get it straightened out for the life of me! Any help? My friend and I are going tomorrow and I'm sure he'll have some solid tip on how to correct that but I'm still open to other suggestoins. For a quick fix, put some chapstick on the club face.
May 22, 200818 yr Watch "Caddy Shack" so that you have pleanty of one-liners to use when you screw-up.
May 22, 200818 yr I totally agree...JUST SWING S-L-O-W.....You will be nervous at first and will have the tendency to swing faster than you realize. Really slow back with a good tempo followthrough! Breathe...and enjoy the nice day! NO, NO, NO...grip the club as tight as possible and swing as fast and hard as possible just in case you make clean contact. The ball will go forever. Now you may shoot 150 but you will have 2-3 shots that will make you look like John Daly.

For many folks, the first inclination to cure a slice is to aim farther left. Before you do that: Move the ball back in your stance (not off your left heel, but a couple inches farther back), close your stance a little (pull your right foot back a couple of inches), and if you need to, roll your right hand over your left at impact.

May 22, 200818 yr Really good technical advise from all of you but here is some practical ones to get you through the day. Carry a couple of identical balls with you similar to what you hit off the tee. This way if you hit into the rough and can't find your ball, you just pretend to hunt a few seconds while discreetly dropping one. When you hit into the fairway, pick up you ball and brush off some imaginary dirt before you hit it. This allows you to gently replace it on top of the grass and is much easier to hit.:sssh:

May 22, 200818 yr The best advise I can give is to eat some really rancid meat the night before, spend the night throwing up and then call you FIL the next morning and tell him you are too sick to play. They'll still have a four-some so they'll be happy, and you'll get to lie on the couch all day and watch sports so you'll be happy. Golf is a game for crazy people that don't have anything else to do. I mean come on. What sane person hits an object, spends time tracking it down just to hit it again, and then repeats such bizarre behavior another 80 plus times? If you need an excuse to drink beer go fishing. At least you might catch something to eat and you don't have to watch fat men sweat and cuss for 4 hours or more.
May 22, 200818 yr That would be my answer ,buy lots of beer for everyone and you all stink it up and won't care!
May 22, 200818 yr That would be my answer ,buy lots of beer for everyone and you all stink it up and won't care! That, and make sure to give father-in-law any putt within 4 feet. That will make him feel good.
May 22, 200818 yr Alcohol was going to be my advice to you....lots of alcohol for everybody so that when you get drunk, they will be drunk too and no one will care about the game. If you can't get everbody drunk, then by all means, cheat, however you can...the identicle balls thing sounds good. The rancid meat thing might work, but I wouldn't want to suffer through the illness all night. Go out to eat the night before and order something different from everyone else, then you can pretend to have food poisoning and know will will know you are faking.

LTW you get to play much in FL or the other crazy places you travel? Thanks a bunch, my far away friend. I wish I was there on the "Ranch" teeing it up with you. When you get down here you make sure to let me know ahead of time so I can take days off. I do get to play quite a bit just not as much as I like to. In St Thomas (Mahogany Run) was the thrill course. Check out their web site they have a lefty in the pic's http://www.mahoganyrungolf.com/ Also played in Nassau Bahamas. We will tee it up again my friend. We will invite Slink if he's up to it. Slink, I have my name on a plaque at the club house.
