What about Bargo and Ball?

 

It's a shame players with that much potential don't want to do what it takes to be really good.

 

Ball, has been to all the work out this summer,but i havent seen Bargo..:mad:

Found this at the Sparq site. Gilliam was tested in Louisville on a laser timer at 4.68 that is equivalent to about 4.45-4.48 hand-timed if you ask most college coaches. These results were from a 2007 test.

That is a great time on laser, I know we took some kids this spring and they had never used a laser start and their times were a couple of tenths slower than any hard times that we had used prior to going to Louisville.

Eastern has taken a big interest in Ball but they question his work ethic, as with most players from our area the colleges that I have been in contact with have a problem with the desire to be a college player and mental toughness. Most kids and all parents really have know idea what it really takes to play sports at the college level. This is one of the biggest reasons that of the few that have the chance to go and try to compete don't seem to stay very long. Now before I hear the exceptions which there are a few this is not my opinion but what coaches at the next level feel is our hurdle to overcome.

I was told from a guy who was @ the 7 on 7, that HC had two kids that Hazard or Letcher could not run with. I have been trying to tell people that HC will have as much team speed as any other team in the mountains.:thumb:

Heard that Powell County dropped Harlan County over the weekend. That now leaves HC with 9 games AGAIN...They already only have 3 home games as it is and couldn't even pay teams that were available to come to Harlan to play. The Bears may end up only having 9 regular season games this year. Why would Powell County drop them this late and now they have to forfeit their district standing because this was a district game. Powell is going to play the other district teams but as the result of this cancellation, it eliminates them from district competition. Back to the drawing boards for the Bears to find another team. The problem is that everyone has already had their schedules done 2 years ago, very hard to find so many games so late in the game.

Powell's coach told me they had another game scheduled that week. I'm still surprised they dropped out of district competition even though the odds were against them making the playoffs.

Yes Powell did have a game scheduled but they scheduled it knowing they had to play Harlan County on the same week. This was still a 2 year deal occuring from last year from Cawood's schedule.

Why would he scheduled a game knowing that they had to play Harlan Co. that week?

I had been told the same thing yesterday but was hoping that it was not true. Why would you forfeit your entire district hopes over one game? What seemed to be the big problem on this, some of the other schools in the 3A district as Cawood were not to happy with the way they allowed HCHS to take the Trojans place in this years 3A alignment.

I agree but what else can you do, Cawood was the largest school in the merger. What do you tell your kids when you opt out of the district like this?
