Lets explain why as a Louisville fan I'm not upset about the weekday games. 1. Attention is NEVER a bad thing. Louisville SHOULD beg, scream, and cry for every bit of attention we can get. The fact is that there are probably about 400,000 people who would label themselves as Louisville fans. Compared to most land grant schools that number is easily dwarfed, it is a fact and nothing to be ashamed of, but it means we can get overshadowed very easily in recruiting and exposure if we don't keep ourselves in the lime light. 2. The vast majority of UofL fans live within an hour of the stadium. It isn't like some schools where many of the fans have to make 3, 4, or 5 hour trips to attend the game. It is fairly easy for most UofL fans to attend these weeknight games. 3. If I get to see my team play on Thursday that means I get to watch everybody else on Sat. (This is personally my favorite aspect of the weekday games) 4. Non Sat games mean night games. The fans experience is much better for a night game. The fans are much wilder and the players seem to be a little more focused when they are playing under the lights. 5. This gets back to the exposure but when you are weeknight game you get loaded with T.V. spots and analysis. I remember on more than one occasion people have referred to ESPN as the Louisville Cardinal network on national media, be it sarcastic or not it is not a bad thing to know everybody knows you. It wasn't all that long ago people didn't even know Louisville had a football team, and look where they have come. The guy can "smack" us all he wants, but he's really just increasing Louisville's exposure. There is a reason Louisville was his target of choice, and that reason isn't a bad thing.
May 22, 200818 yr I don't see why anyone should slam Louisville for their schedule. I'm a fan of Louisville football. Whenever they decide to play, I'll be watching/listening. I don't get to go to the games anyway, so it's not like I'm missing any sort of "experience". Besides, it's football. The more the better! I get to watch football just about every day of the week this way!
