I gave you credit for one that was a few hundred under, but that was much better than last year.

I think its great. UL has good attendance. It will be interesting to see if they can fill up a bigger stadium on a regular basis.

Are they going to fill it every single game? Absolutely not, but that doesn't mean there isn't a need for an expansion. I've been to many a UK game the last 5 or so years that the stadium either wasn't full, or emptied after the third quarter. It's about ticket sales. All the Athletic Dept. can do is sell the tickets, they can't make people show up.

If they were that torn up about missing the high school football game, they'd sell their tickets and go. Friday night games obviously don't affect the crowd as much as you would like to think they do.

 

They don't. But Deuce, even I get angry about the Friday night games, not because it hurts Louisville (because it doesn't), but because it hurts the local high schools. Many of them have started to smarten up and move their games up or back a night. That's not right for ESPN to do.

Actually almost all of them were sell outs. That may be semantics but when it comes to dollars and cents, it still works.

I think, like UK, UL expects to sell out against big conference opponents and against UK. I just wonder at what number of seats would UL attendance level off regardless of size.

At the current level of interest, sixty thousand was a good guess in my opinion, for those hot tickets (UK, WVU, Cincy, top OOC.)

 

If UofL gets over last year's setback and continues to rise, UofL could even do with more seats. Football is king in Louisville at the high school level, and I think they could be just as enthusiastic about a college team at the highest level.

Ummm standing room tickets? Check out the Red Sox attendance for the last several years, they're always above capacity. Lot's of teams sell standing room tickets if they have pavillions, landings etc.

I mean, I know its possible because teams have always done it, I have just never noticed a "standing room" section in a lot of these places. I always wonder if that violates any fire marshal standards as well. I dont know why they list a capacity as what it is if that isnt really the capacity, ya know?
