Adam Dunn

Featured Replies

My point is directed for all peeps saying Dunn shouldn't be traded because of his offensive production. Obviously people that know better don't hold Dunn in such high esteem.
I agree with you that Dunn won't bring a great deal on the market. But, as I've also stated, Dunn's production is good enough that you just don't give him away.

When the time comes, there might be a team willing to overpay for him for the pennant drive.

No, that has been the last 4 years. Yes Dunn has started slow this year, but I fully expect his numbers to be what they have consitently been the past 4 years. Had Hamilton stayed, the Reds wouldn't have Volquez.

Yes that is correct about Volquez. Do you feel the Reds can not succeed without Dunn? I think they can. My point about Hamilton is just that other players exist. I was real upset a few years ago when the Reds let Todd Walker leave. But low and behold there's a guy named Brandon Phillips playing 2nd now. In a small market a team has to very cautious as to where it spends it's money. I just don't think the Reds can afford to have a one dimensional player that command a large chunk of the payroll. If they can keep him and still bring in what they need to compete for a title then great. They have yet to do that. Like I said earlier IF this team wins a pennant with Dunn on the roster, I will eat crow. I expect the same from all of his die hard supporters.

Yes, I think the Reds can succeed without Dunn, but as I mentioned earlier they better have a plan in place to replace his run production. Griffey will most assuredly be gone at the end of the year. Bruce is obviously waiting in the wings. While Griffey is struggling mightily this year, I'm certain he'll be one of the top run producers by seasons end. Who is going to place that production? Bruce will hopefully make up for some of it, but you've got to have a plan to make up for the rest of it.

We can only hope:thumb:

Wow if the Reds are bad with future hall of famer/homerun king/multi-mvp winner Adam Dunn then what would they be like without him?

Exaggerate much?

I dont know. I guess I never realized what a great player(the only of his kind) until i read your posts.

Maybe you should go back, and take your time when reading. I know I comprehend better when I take my time. I'm assuming since you have yet to post any after 4 or 5 request, that you couldn't come up with too many players that have equaled Dunn's production in the categories I listed.

Your right. Great job! No one really has had that over the last 4 years. There are still so many players better then Dunn though. Plus Dunn doesn't win. I want a winner on my team(Cardinals). Keep him and his great stats, I could really care less.

Side note: Dunn's was 18th in OPS last year.

That never has been the argument.

Whether that was in the National League or the majors as a whole, that makes him one of the game's more productive hitters.

You all act like no one comes close to Dunn's stats. Thats why I put that in there.

Still though the reds have not had a good season with Dunn there, so why not try something new?

I think you're misinterpreting some comments.

Of course, it wouldn't hurt to get some better players around him, either,

Catch 22 or should I say 44. Where do you spend the money? Besides, Votto, Keppy, Phillips, JR, and Edwin aren't exactly hacks. Add Dunn, that's supposedly 6 solid guys, but for some reason it's not working. I believe Dunn and JR are the root of that some reason. This discussion is repeating itself so I'm going to walk. :walk:
