Tell me, why did Texas want Hamilton and not Dunn for Volquez?

Texas needed a centerfielder, and Hamilton makes a lot less money.

Batting average isn't as important as on-base percentage and slugging percentage. Throw in Hamilton's ability to play centerfield and his much better defense, and for Texas it was a no-brainer.

I think every single GM in the league would rather have any of those players then Adam Dunn.

 

14 teams scored more runs then the reds last year. So if Adam Dunn is so good, then why are they not better at scoring runs?

I don't recall anyone saying that Dunn shouldn't be traded because of his offensive production, but the the Reds better have a pretty good darn plan in place to replace his offensive production if they decide to trade him, or let him walk at the end of the year. You can't just let that kind of production leave, and expect to win. I'd like to hear what your plan would be if your Walt Jocketty.

No, that has been the last 4 years. The Reds scored 783 runs last year, and Dunn was responsible for 207 of those runs. That comes out to just over 26%. Yes Dunn has started slow this year, but I fully expect his numbers to be what they have consitently been the past 4 years. Had Hamilton stayed, the Reds wouldn't have Volquez.
