It's about growing up in that community and knowing your neighbors. Its about wanting to do good for everyone in the community because they're going to pat you on the back win or loose. Pride isn't wanting to win so badly that you are willing to play the game with players outside of your community. Pride isn't about living a couple of cities or counties away and coming to playing for a smaller school because maybe your not good enough to play for the big school where you are from. Pride is about wanting to put on your team colors because of the people you represent when you do it. It's not about wanting to put on the team colors because they have won a few games in the past. Winning is GREAT!!!!! But sometimes just wearing your teams colors and representing your community is GREAT.

Yeah losing 16 seniors is going to hurt us alot. But we put forth 110% more effort than ever and hope to come out on top this year. We have Micheal Richardson, Justin Sherlock and a freshman Chris Pompillio so we are going to have a few tricks up our sleeve. Holmes is our first test, until then.

 

I hope that one of those tricks is to pull some bodies out of a hat, caus I hear the numbers are waaaaaayyyyy down!:eek:

I don't know... I'm fairly confused... In the first couple of posts you had on here you adressed the teams "heart" and "pride." Then you questioned whether they "try." Then you say that you aren't talking about their "pride" but their "effort" and apparently "pride" and "effort" are synonymous.

The chance to beat Beechwood last year, twice, should have been insentive enough to take there game to the next level. I dont want to hear about the one drive, the fan base seemed to cherish this past year, just look at the game, fell apart after they were scored on by Elliot.

Don't give up. If we can do it, so can you. Your coaches know what it takes to beat a premiere program (like Beechwood). Follow their lead, and it can be done.

Wow ... pretty classless comments from where I am sitting ....

And the last time I checked ... Beechwood still has a winning record against LCA ... when that changes .. then maybe you can try to convince us that LCA has the better program than Beechwood. You beat one of Beechwood's worst teams in the past 20 years with one of your best ... wow ... you would think that you could practice what you preach about Crush.

Bluto,thats exactly what I expected from a runner up! Enough said about LCA.

My comments about Dayton were born from disapointment, I thought in the begining of the year finaly A 1a team in our division that will play with us. They had the right coach, talented players and what I thought was heart. To my disapointment I was so wrong, Ill send you film.

Imo and as an outsider and did not see Dayton play or what they had or have coming back. I just am posting to say that I believe that the people in and close to the Dayton program will know full well what thier kids have inside of them and what they need w/o any outside....lets just say "help" for lack of another word.

Anyway, I just noticed a few other outsider's post, not wanting to get anything else started (and I won't discuss it any further) and thought that I would throw my 2 cents in that imo the Dayton people will decide what they need and keep things going in a positive direction.

Let's get back on the path, of discussing Dayton and being constructive.

As someone who has been around for a very long time, I agree, Dayton has tons of pride. I was here when the Dayton/Ludlow/Bellevue/Beechwood games were always a tossup. We got very lucky in building the program that we have.

 

The people of Dayton have always been very hospitable towards us and no doubt, that is not always easy. Keep pushing Devils. Dont let anyone get you down. You never know!
