I have personally seen Beechwood "Roll over and Play Dead" early in the 3rd quarter, against a small 1A team.

 

Don't give up. If we can do it, so can you. Your coaches know what it takes to beat a premiere program (like Beechwood). Follow their lead, and it can be done.

 

Whatever you do, don't listen to the insults.

 

Now Bluto, be honest, you saw that ONCE! Something not many have seen before or since then. It just happened to be at a very difficult and vulnerable time for the Tigers. You caught us at a weak moment. You may beat us in the future, but doubt you will ever see us roll over any time in the future.

 

But to get back to your point, I agree, do not listen to the insults. Forget about everyone else. Concentrate on your own team, your own strengths, build you own brotherhood and good things will happen.

Dayton may not have the Beechwood talent but I gurantee they have more fight in them. I have many fond memories of playing the Devils and whenever we locked up it was a bloodbath.

 

Dayton has a very good young coach and someone who is instilling strong work ethic and demands 110%. He wants those kids to play every down as if they are playing for the state championship and keep those kids believing.

 

Im always pulling for the underdog and will be pulling for the Devils this year against the likes of anyone but Bellevue.

I agree with you 100% - Dayton has a good coach and has had some good coaches in the past. They are working hard if not harder than last year's team. These young men will be ready for the upcoming season. I remember playing Dayton and yes it was always a battle. A lot of times the score of the game might not appear to be a battle but you knew after the game it was.

Of course I am going to be somewhat biased in this but there is no question the amount of pride the players, the coaches, and the town has for the Dayton football program. It amazes me the amount of support these boys recieve no matter what their record says. Davis field is the place to be on Friday nights whether the game is a for sure win or could turn into a blowout. The fans will be there supporting their boys. This is also true for every small city in the NK area (Bellevue, Newport, Ludlow ect...). Pride will never be a question for any of these schools.

 

As for them to improve they need to work on the men up front in the trenches. Sherlock and Richardson will put in their stats, but the season IMO will ride on the line on both sides of the ball. If their young line can step it up and play a single unit this team could become a very productive team. The foundation has been laid at Dayton for a program to begin building. The city itself is growing rapidly with three huge construction projects underway, and the football program is growing just as fast. In '04 they were 3-7, '05 4-6, '06 6-4, and in '07 8-3. This is a direct effect of the coaches and the hard work these boys have put in. Good luck to the Devils and I will be there to enjoy the season.

Last year was one of the best games I have ever seen. Was a battle to the end. Not sure what Lynn Camp returns from last year but I'm guessing a solid team again. Hopefully our young team can come out and give another great game like last years was, a close one to the end. See ya there...

Overall IMO I believe that Dayton will have a successful year. The progress Dayton has made over the past few years should carry the team to be more determined to be the best in their class.

Not exactly sure, but I believe Dayton only had like 32 players last year, and IMO did pretty well :sssh:...

I believe at 7:00.

The scrimmage last night was good for both teams. The two varsity squads did game situation for 3 quaters and they tied at the end of them at 14. The two JV squads then played the last quater and Madison Southern scored and Dayton's did not. Good game overall though.
