April 29, 200818 yr I am not painting anyone on here as racist. Some of you will oppose anyone who is a Democrat. Oh and BTW: we're not socialists. Not to get off topic, but is there anything wrong with "opposing anyone who is a Democrat?" Because of what Democrats represent (not socialism, but instead a lot of things that clash with my political ideology), I don't feel like I am doing any wrong.

Because of what Democrats represent (not socialism, but instead a lot of things that clash with my political ideology), I don't feel like I am doing any wrong. No, nothing wrong. If you oppose the Democratic Party on issues sure go ahead. I oppose the Republican Party b/c I think it's totally wrong on the issues. Nothing wrong with that at all. There are some in this world who just need to have reenforcement as to why they don't like Obama. Again, not anyone on this board. But some do.
April 29, 200818 yr M.E., we aren't going to agree, but I don't get how you consider Hannity and Limbaugh racists, as well as (what it seems you believe) a large number of white men, but Rev. Wright is not. Personally, I don't know and I don't really feel like finding out if they are racist. But, from as objective of a standpoint as I can be at, it seems that minorities are often given a lot more leniency in terms of determining whether or not they are racist. Limbaugh has made public statements about Donovan McNabb being hyped b/c he was black. Forget that he led his team to a Super Bowl. He also plays "Barak the Magic Negro" on his show, says people only want to help those in Darfur b/c they're black. Hannity is good pals with a Neo-Nazi. http://www.newshounds.us/2008/04/08/hannitys_direct_tie_to_neonazi_once_again_ignored_as_he_and_fox_news_panel_hypocritically_smear_obama_over_tenuous_connection_to_former_radical.php
April 29, 200818 yr Author This is going to shock you M.E......I'm a Dem. and have been for my entire life.
April 29, 200818 yr I really saw nothing wrong with his NAACP speech. I liked what he had to say actually. I think he had a good message.
April 29, 200818 yr This is going to shock you M.E......I'm a Dem. and have been for my entire life. Doesn't shock me. Glad you are. Personally I wish Wright would shut up b/c he's only hurting Obama. And with that, I'm done talking about it.
April 29, 200818 yr That being said. Soundbytes will be taken out of context and his speech will be spun. It started as soon as the speech was finished. It's really starting to get annoying. It's upsetting that this is what politics has come to in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world.

I agree with you there, just as Hannity's supposed relations with a Neo-Nazi doesn't not make him one. As for Limbaugh, I don't find the McNabb statements to be racist. It was commentary on how the media treats him. If that second part is true, that is certainly inappropriate. Either way, I wasn't focusing on Wright's, Hannity's, or Limbaugh's supposed racism (although I did mention it). I was focusing on how you contend that they are racist when I don't think their offenses are any more than Wright's. I meant more to say how a free pass (bad term) seems to be given to minorities in this regard by some, but when a white person says something of equal discriminatory value, he is crucified.

Larry Elder agrees with you. He has often made the statement that his own people are more racist than whites. Of course at the same time he does say that our white condescension is just as bad.
April 29, 200818 yr I am not painting anyone on here as racist. Some of you will oppose anyone who is a Democrat. Oh and BTW: we're not socialists. So what? You oppose anyone that is a Republican, even to the tune of someone that's as close to a socialist as possible, like Obama.
April 29, 200818 yr I heard a good part of his Q and A session to the National Press Club on the radio yesterday. Based on that, not only do I have no problem with the things he said, but support and agree with many (not all) of them.
April 29, 200818 yr It does seem like Wright is intentionally trying to hurt Obama. He does have some valid points but then again, so have other polarizing figures in the past. Their message gets drowned out by their off the wall rhetoric. Hillary must be loving life right now.
April 29, 200818 yr I don't think he's trying to hurt Senator Obama. I think the main reason he keeps this up is he has a new book coming out this fall. So he's getting a lot of free publicity. I can't subscribe to his theory that the attacks on him are a attack on the black church. A lot of people of all races of his age can't seem to let go of the things that happened back then. He will go away as soon as the media and people stop talking about him.

A lot of people of all races of his age can't seem to let go of the things that happened back then. :thumb: What is scary about this election is how big of a factor race is going to play. What I see happening is that any differening opinion about Wright (like it or not, he is apart of this election now) or Obama are going to be deemed racist opinions. Now Obama is smarter than that and does not feel that way, but Reverend Wright does feel that way and is not afraid to tell anyone about it. For example, if a certain segment or demographic does not vote for Obama, they will be labeled as a racist... it has already happend in Pennsylvania and I fear it will only continue.
