cvillecat Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 With the trees in full bloom and pollen counts high I have been miserable the last few days. Constant sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes remind me every year that Spring has sprung. I normally take shots but have not done so yet. Fresh cut grass, tree pollen, wild honeysuckle, and Roses are my worse nightmare. Anyone else being miserable with allergies? If so, you have my sympathy:cry:
cammando Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I'm lucky in the spring.. Nothing really gets to me early.. It's the fall stuff that wears me out.. Aster, ragweed, goldenrod and other fall(late summer) blooms are the worst for me...

Yes, I a miserable with you. honeysuckle...that stuff could be my death. I have gone to the hospital with a bucket under my nose because of the severe nose bleeds from that honeysuckle poision. I gush blood when I get around it. Right now, I am so clogged that I have had bad headaches, plugged ears, dizzyness, etc. My eyes hurt and I just want to sleep. My sympathy lies with you also...and anyone else going through this crap. Feel better soon.

madman Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I had allergies real bad for many years but several years ago I started taking Zyrtec every day (year round) and my allergies are gone.
Original Rookie Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Spring is by far my worst. I am miserable.
stick1 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I once got tested for like 34 things and I was allergic to 30 of them. It was your usual like ragweed, pollen, dust etc but it was also crazy stuff like tomatoes etc. I eat pizza + ketchup like it's going out of style! My allergies are about as bad as I've seen. I pray my kids don't get them. I've broken my nose several times + had surgery about 2 years ago becasue I had 95+% blockage in one side. While they were trying to straighten it up they shrunk my siunuses. My allergies have been much better every since. I cut grass tonight and am fine right now. Used to it killed me! The surgery didn't work as far as air passage goes by the way:(
NobizLikeShowbiz Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I have asthma. That combined with allergies really stinks this time of year for me.
jahearme Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 This is the first timme I've ever had a problem with mine, but man, is it a pain! It feels like someone is just pressing down on my face! I hope this doesn't become a problem with all the seasonal changes, but I'm afraid it will be. My Dad has some serious sinus/allergy issues.
cvillecat Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 I had allergies real bad for many years but several years ago I started taking Zyrtec every day (year round) and my allergies are gone. :thumb: I started taking Zyrtec yesterday and they seem to help. Also, with the rain washing away some of the pollen I can breathe much better today. The problem I have with Zyrtec and the other allergy meds are they make me drowsy. I have taken Clariton but had zero results.

Staying inside with the air conditioner on is my only relief. I also get the headaches, plugged ears, ,itchy eyes and have trouble breathing. Thank goodness I never had the nose bleed problems you have. My allergies first began when I was a Soph. in high school and now at age 52 I still suffer every Spring. My problems normally last until around Memorial Day. As you stated MRS.Purplehaze, I feel sorry for anyone that suffers with "Hay Fever".
Baseballguy Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I have them year round. I do as well... but this is by far the worst time of the year for mine.
bellalumni40 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 This is really the only time of year I have any problem, and it really only started for me last year at 24 years old. I never had an issue in all my years in Bell Co. and Lexington, then I move to Bardstown and they blow up on me. Now this year back in Lexington I am having the same issues. Sneezing, sniffing, eyes watering, and I could barely wear my contacts. I started taking Zyrtec the other day since it is over-the-counter now and have not had too many issues since I started taking it. Good stuff.
