Actually, I posted at the time that he was the only reason the deal could turn in the Reds' favor. Like then, as is the case now, he's too far away from the majors to tell.
April 23, 200818 yr Wayne K is constantly raked over the coals for "the trade" but the two players he traded were turds and the rest of the league isn't stupid. I think he got plenty for them. I think the Nationals fans probably think they should have gotten more than they did. The Reds are on the right track with the investments they have made in their pitching.

What more do you think they could possibly get out of those two?At the time, Kearns was a 25-year-old hitter in the midst of a good season and no one questions his defense and arm in the outfield. Lopez was 26, I think, and a switch-hitting infielder with some speed and pop. I firmly believe that they could have gotten more for them than two middle relievers, a washed-up shortstop and a young pitcher coming off shoulder surgery, and just about everyone else in baseball felt the same way. Reports at the time indicated as much. We'll never know what they could have gotten because Krivsky panicked and made a short-term deal to fill a short-term need.

I didn't realize the park prevented him from hitting singles. In 07 he had the same number of road vs home HRs and only 5 more 2B. This big difference was 26 more road singles...
April 23, 200818 yr He gets fired but Isiah gets to stay with the team. Kriv did not do too awfully bad, but he needed to go. His decisions were sub-par at best.
