April 22, 200818 yr Are you trying to say that since my child is enrolled in a public school, I don't have an intentional development, experiences, opportunities or training of my children? That is the very arrogance that gets private schools painted as they are. I will put my expectations of my children up against any one on here. Even if they are "riff raff" public school students.:rolleyes:
April 22, 200818 yr On the very origin of the thread. I believe it is wrong. A lot of this has to do with the importance now now placed on measuring a schools level of success. Most people will tell you that you get out of a school what you put into it. Meaning the success of a school has more to do with the students going into it than anything going on in the class room. For the most part, kids going to private schools come from good families with strong interest in there kids future, these are typically the best students in a county. Having a financial stake in the quality of students that attend there school districts means that these districts are going to play harder ball when it comes to competing with the private schools. I believe they are using sports as a way of competing academically. Obviously this issue is predominately NOT about X and T and 6A. Jefferson Co schools are not participating. This has more to do with smaller more vulnerable private schools that can indeed be hurt by not participating against other schools. If Jimmy is an athlete and he knows that by going to St Bob's he won't get to play against the bigger County schools in the region it might influence his decision and have him go to the public sector.
April 22, 200818 yr Don't forget if I donated lets say 200K to the Male football program for new locker rooms, (I've seen them and its not enough) the money is divided also for the girls Field Hockey/Volleyball etc. Look at the fields for X/Rocks and look at Seneca/PRP/Manual. Now y'all will say look at Male, the JCS told Male if they will move to the Preston Street location they will help with the complex. Male didn't want to leave. No comparison to the complexes Privates/Publics. No one from Male should in good conscience EVER say one word about facilities. Not one. You're right there is no comparison of facilities, Male's are much better then any one's public or private except for X's new facilities. I was there for the baseball tournament during spring break. It was played on a beautiful field. Behind the right field fence there is a very, very nice covered batting cage. Right next to the baseball field is a very nice softball field. On the far side of the softball field is the football practice field. Behind the softball and football practice fields is the largest on campus football stadium in Jefferson County. Now the regular steel beam construction that is the norm at football fields around Jefferson County wasn't good enough for Male, no their football stadium if full concrete and masonry structures on both sides. Surrounding the football field is an 8 lane track with rubberized surface. There is also a football field house with locker rooms and weights adjacent to the stadium. Behind the home stands of the stadium is the soccer field and just across a small side street is the field hockey and lacrosse field. Now I will grant that Trinity has a beautiful football stadium NOW but it has only been there for 3 years. They have no track, no baseball field, no tennis courts and they share the stadum with the soccer teams so on many days they practice at their practice field which is 2 blocks from their campus. DeSales has no home football field and Holy Cross is no where close to Male's. CAL has very nice facilities but again I don't know that they are comperable to Male's. I mean no slight to the other private schools in Louisville but those facilities again aren't even close to Male's.
April 22, 200818 yr Again Male didn't want to move and was made an offer. The track is also used by young ladies and the public. They happen to have the space for the fields you mentioned and they have been there over ten years. they have the grass and the nets for the sports you mentioned. Ever play late in the season in the mud? The the way the stadium is built, well I have no clue. I don't blame X/Rocks for what they have, its for the kids. And that is what this thread is all about. The children.
April 23, 200818 yr Maybe it isn't so much about private/public or even open/closed. Maybe the real issue is about wealth. Sure seems like the more wealthy a school is the more likely you are to succeed in sports There are exceptions, most notably boys basketball, but in general wealth is a pretty good measuring stick. I believe we have a winner. Johnny, tell him what he's won. This is very true. The problem is that some peoples' perception is that all private schools are wealthy and that all who send their kids to private schools are wealthy. This is far from accurate.

The children. None of this matters. The fact is that Male has better facilities then every school in the county and no one from Male need ever bring up facilities when talking about inequities between schools without pointing out how much better theirs are then everyone elses.

April 23, 200818 yr Rock....lets take a poll and be honest to see if I lost. Trinity does not have the space that Male has. so....I won because I'm honest. Can't fault Male because it has more real grass to support girls sports. Now, be honest please. The winner is....the kids. How can I lose when I'm ther only poster to mention the children? And I called no one "Cowards"
April 23, 200818 yr And after rereading I didn't "start' anything I just added like everyone. Also Momma thinks I won because "she loves me". She is doing so much better.... Sidebar
April 23, 200818 yr I read on another thread a post about how this is already negatively affecting the public schools outside of Jefferson County. St. X is hosting a track meet the week before the Regional meet (which is being held at St. X) in order to allow all the teams to preview the track and get familiar with it prior to the events. One team in the region, who is located outside of Jefferson County has been told by their Super, who informed their AD to inform their coaches that they were not going to be competing against any private schools. Apparently this coach was not consulted about his thoughts on a potential boycott and is against it. As a result, his kids are not going to get to go to the meet the week before regions to get familiar with the track, which will only put them at a disadvantage. This is just a singular example of how kids are going to be hurt by this, and egos aside, high school sports should be about the kids. The sad thing is that this thing hasn't even taken full effect yet. This will do nothing but retard KY athletics.
April 23, 200818 yr http://courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080423/ZONE02/80423024 The above link will explain the recent shift from public to private, especially during the middle school years. As for KASS opting to refrain from playing private schools, it is their opinion; however, it only hurts the level of play(competition) for ALL STUDENTS.

As scary as that is, the numbers show more students go from private grade and middle schools to public high schools, than vice versa.
April 23, 200818 yr Pep...I guess taxes like you and I pay. For what it's worth that much is OBVIOUS to a developmentally challenged monkey AL. MY point and the point that other people are trying laboriously to get into your head is why precisely did MALE get those perks when many other schools in Jefferson County were in greater need of upgrades and updates to their stadiums and facilities?
