This is all well and good, but skill players are not the weak spot on this team. If new players come out I hope they are big strong farm boys to play up front.

J-R, you seem quite enthusiastic about Russell Football-- let me ask you a question.

 

Since Russell is unstoppable, how did the following teams defeat the Red Devils over the last 5 seasons? In other words, what did these teams do to make a difference in the game? (With the exception of the Simon Kenton game, it appears that shutting down Russell's offense was the answer.)

Breathitt co. game Russell played not to loss in the 4th quarter with an 11 point lead coaches lost that game not the players.

 

Ashland game in 06 Russell up 21-7 with 9:30 left in the game Kasey Clarke ran a 68 yard td which was called back for block in the back after he scored.

Ref couldn't get the flag out of this pocket I guess. They punted and CHOKED the last 9 minutes. PENT. that game ASHLAND 4-35 RUSSELL 12-110 guess where the game was.

 

Mercer Co. game it took two schools mercer and harrodsburg high to bet little old RUSSELL by 3 points thats really fair.

 

Boyd Co. in 05 Russell lead at the half and the first play of the second half the QB BROWN was knocked out of the game did not return. Boyd Co. deserved to win that game better team that game. 06 game noboby gets hurt and RUSSELL 35-0 WINNERS OVER BOYD CO.

 

Belfry 04 game THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL TEAM IN THE STATE IN CLASS 1,2 OR 3 MAYBE EVAN 4 RUSSELL GOT STOMPED !!!! BELFRY STATE CHAMPS

 

 

All I,m saying is Russell is a good football team to be part of the other games in 03' the better team won period.

Does anybody know if GC coaching staff has approach these boys. Back in the day Coach Younce, Mercer or Reed would activly seek out boys to play. Don't send an another player to try recuit the kid to play.

Greenslate and Reed maybe hard to lure away from baseballl diamond since they have been expecting good success. Coach Logan helps provide a way to GC kids to play baseball almost year round if the kid so desires.

Coach Sammons and his staff have spoken to all "able-bodied" students who do not currently play on the football team. A couple of players were present during Spring Football such as Ryan Adkins and Michael Gullett -- who had never played football at GCHS.

 

Reed, Greenslate, Stringfellow, etc. are all welcomed and encouraged to play football, especially with the Tony Franklin System.

When do passing league/7 on 7 games start?

First or second week of June, I believe.

Its easy to throw a football when there are nobody coming at you. I agree it is good for getting timing down and receivers going over plays. But when you bring the big boys out and the LB's with pads on. How will you do.

When I first learned to park a car, I used orange cones to learn how to parallel park. When I first drove a car, my father and I found a location where there were no other cars to make me nervous.

 

When I became proficient at parallel parking and driving, I took the state test to obtain my driver's license.

 

That is a good learning model for any teenager in any situation.

I like the passing camps. It gives the QB and WR's a chance to work on timing and allows WR to learn route running.

It also give the DB's an excellent chance to work on pass coverage and improve foot work.

Hey baseball boy, why some "glass half full"? Besides when the big boys come out you can either get the ball off, out run them or just hit'em back. Correct me if I'm wrong but would you consider using a pitching machine a waste of time? REMEMBER, WHEN THAT BIG BOY IS ON THE MOUND AND YOU HAVE TO LOOK INTO HIS EYES, HOW WILL YOU DO?
