I am a big fan of zone shells and man under. Attack the defense while protecting against the big play.

Tough schedule for GC. Looks like 4-6 or 3-7 on the year, but the good thing is that they may still be district champs.

What D does Belfry run? I maybe wrong but it seems like they always have relative success against Russell.

 

Belfry runs a 5-2 no matter who they play. But, Belfry's players have been running a 5-2 since middle school, it's not a defense put in a month before they play Russell.

J-R, would you say that one of the keys to defeating Russell was holding Russell's offense to a limited number of points, first downs, and time of possession -- except for the Simon Kenton game?

 

The key to beating Russell is realizing what allows Russell to beat all the teams they play.

 

When you play Russell you are going to play a team who is solid fundamentally, who won't make mental mistakes, who won't miss many tackles, who won't miss assingments, who won't get rattled if they fall behind a couple scores, and won't get outcoached.

 

You have to accept these things and focus more on what your teams identity is, not make any mistakes yourself, and hope that the game is close enough that a couple bounces of the ball can go in your advantage.

I heard this evening that there will now be 2 home 7-on-7's beginning this Thursday on June 5th against Russell. I guess the Johnson Central trip has been cancelled.

Lewis County is still on for Tuesday. Rister will get plenty of snaps until Craft returns.
