Russell's offense says this, "We are running right here and you can't stop us!"

 

Wouldn't that make you mad if you were on Greenup County's defensive squad?

 

You already know that Russell is going to run at both edges and occasionally up the middle with FB trap and quick dive.

 

In other words, a defense already knows going in where Russell is going to run.

 

Compare that to Greenup County's offense where it is pass or run at any moment on any down at any location. Which offense would you rather defend against?

 

I would rather defend against Russell's offense since I know that 90% of the plays will be the following:

 

sweep

boot

trap

quick dive

 

The other 10% will be inside counters, reverses, and pass plays (if needed).

Who will start at LB this year? I figure Greenslate will be in the middle, but who will be on the outside?

OFFENSE

I dont think it will be a rebuilding year. At least I dont think it should. GC will have to find an "every down" type RB, I would say that the sophomore Lyle will probably be that guy, with Smith backing him up. Which leads me to another big question will Berry be at WR or RB. IMO he is and always has been a RB. I did a fine job last year at WR but if his knees have fully recovered he can run through a brick wall. The line will be the big question next year. I think two sophomores will get alot of snaps on the line (Grayson and Kitchen) Greenslate should be solid with alot of experience, and if Newberry plays, which is always an interesting saga (I heard he maybe moving across the river) he should be strong on the line. WR should be young but talented. I would say sophomores Troxler and Ryerson will contribute quite a bit with Hannah, and Berry who both looked good last year before injury's ended their season early. Crum and Grubb will probably see some time there also. Craft should be much more accurate this year, being his second year in this system. I look for him to be at the top of most of the passing catagories at the end of the year.

 

Grayson and Kitchen will be very entertaining to watch when they hit their senior year. I don't envy the kid that is across the line from either one of them.:fight:

Not sure about 5 unforced turnovers?? Russell got beat period. Just like GC has gotten beat since. I guess GC should say the turnovers have cost them the game the past few years.

The top three should be fine, that is pretty good speed for LB's. JB isnt that fast but has a great nose for the ball, he just has to keep his head up and not over run the play.

I totally agree, I think if he stays healthy he will have a great year. I think that ankle hindered him alot last season. I look for big things out of JBG this year, playing a great linebacker as a senior is in his genes.

I heard this weekend that the new max weight chart has brought new excitement to the weight room. The players are challenging each other everyday to see who will end up as the "king of the hill".

 

If you can't move the weight around, how are you going to move your opponents around? Positive peer pressure brings positive results -- especially when an underclassmen wants your job!

Awesome news, any idea who is looking like the strongest lineman?

Let's just say that many of the sophomores are challenging the upperclassmen for "King of the Hill."

Greenup needs to believe in each other then it will start paying off. Russell believed and there the 2008 state 3a powerlifting champs. Remember believe in each other and PRIDE in your school.
