April 14, 200818 yr OR maybe you can't expect Cueto to pitch every time like he did the first two games. Touché.
April 14, 200818 yr It isn't the start to the season that all of us hoped for but there have been encouraging signs of progress. The pitching staff has improved a lot (you can't expect Cueto to get roughed up like he did today many more times), we finally have a hitting catcher, and the prospects look good so far. Maybe a few of our keystone players will get it turned around and we can contend. You're kidding, right. Is Bench coming out of retirement?
April 14, 200818 yr You're kidding, right. Is Bench coming out of retirement? No, I am not kidding. Bako is currently at a .367 clip. Something a Reds catcher hasn't done since maybe Bench.
April 14, 200818 yr No, I am not kidding. Bako is currently at a .367 clip. Something a Reds catcher hasn't done since maybe Bench. I was hoping you were kidding. Credit him for what he has hit so far but Bako will hit the back of his card.
April 14, 200818 yr I would deal Dunn and bring up Bruce. Since Bruce started in the minors his arbitration should be back another year right? Each year it seems like the Reds dig deep for a reason to keep Dunn on the roster.
April 14, 200818 yr Author Each year it seems like the Reds dig deep for a reason to keep Dunn on the roster. 39 HR, 95 RBI, 103 Runs, 113 BB, .381 OBP, .516 SLG. That's his career 162 game averages. Each year it seems like Dunn puts up rare numbers. What a bum...
April 14, 200818 yr Cincinnati sports teams pain me...serious, serious pains! Yeah, just give us a successful season that leads to a little post season play. Whether it be the Reds or the Bengals, I dont care which....just make the pain stop
April 14, 200818 yr I would deal Dunn and bring up Bruce. Since Bruce started in the minors his arbitration should be back another year right? Each year it seems like the Reds dig deep for a reason to keep Dunn on the roster. I think the ultimate plan is that after this year, Dunn stays, Jr. goes because of his big salary option, and Bruce is the everyday right fielder. Then we have above average right and center fielders...

These are all fine stats. Obviously the issues on this team have nothing to with Adam Dunn. The pitching staff seems to be vastly improved, so lets not blame another .500 at best season on them. Who do you think is the problem, and why?
April 14, 200818 yr Bako may end up hitting like the back of his card but for the moment in time he is batting .367 and helping the offense.
April 14, 200818 yr Bako may end up hitting like the back of his card but for the moment in time he is batting .367 and helping the offense. You've got to be kidding about an offensive catcher right? The key there is for the moment in time. Bako is a career backup, nothing more. He's never played more than 96 games, hit more than 4 homeruns, driven in more than 30. He hasn't hit over .250 since 1999, and he's 35 years old. He's had a good couple of weeks--that's all.
April 14, 200818 yr Everything you said might come to realization and yes I know "for the moment in time" is key but right now it looks like his timing is there and his swing is smooth and fluid. No offense but for the sake of the Reds I hope you're wrong . I guess we'll see though.
April 14, 200818 yr Because he supports the troops! :thumb: And it takes talent to put up these numbers. 308 baserunners in 195 innings--Yikes! I knew he wasn't good but those numbers are just awful for a reliever.

No offense but for the sake of the Reds I hope you're wrong . I guess we'll see though. I would say that the odds are far better that he doesn't even finish the season on the big league roster than they are for him continuing to be a productive hitter.
