If coming from the south on 75, take a left off the Kyles lane exit. If coming from the north, then take a right off the Kyles lane exit. At the light turn left onto Dixie Hwy. At the next light, take a right between Sub Station II and a liquor store (used to be an Ameristop there and the sign may still be up). There's a small strip mall on the left starting with the Bank of Kentucky. It's in that strip.

Malone's is WAY over-rated in my opinion.

If I'm going to eat at an up-scale restaurant in Lexington I would pick Merrick Inn, Murray's, and Rossi's over Malone every time.

 

Ah yes, Rossi's that is another one. I have seen it out there on Chinoe when I go to Kroger, but I have no idea what type of restaurant it is. I have seen people going inside dressed fairly nice, and always wondered what type of restaurant it is.

I was in Hopkinsville a couple years ago and ate at a tiny hole in the wall downtown called I think, "Po' Boys". It was authentic cajun, the family that ran it were misplaced from Hurricane Katrina, and it was goooooood.

 

Is that place still around?

Yes it is. Business took off and they moved into a larger place down the street. I've never eaten there so I didn't include them on the list. I only listed the ones I've ate at, but Po Boys is on the To Do List.

Minus the issue with the roaches, Madison Garden in Richmond is one of my favorite resturants, they have got some great wings!!!

Madison Garden is another good one in Richmond. I also like Sonny's, even though it is a chain restaurant.

 

Richmond also used to have the old Jet Drive-in. One of the best foot long chili dogs I've ever eaten. They closed and it turned into a Sonic a few years back.

I'm a big fan of the bourbon glazed shrimp and scallops. Not sure if they still have it.

They have one of, if not the best, wine lists in Lexington.

For a good old fashion breakfast. Try the greasy spoon down in Newport, Ky. bulldog biscuits and gravy, geotta, fried apples and grits. How could you go wrong??

The Casa's (Cafe and Fiesta) are pretty good Mexican food, and even better atmosphere.

 

Richmond's hidden gym though is The Silver Diner on Water Street.... tiny, tiny place but some of the best short order food you will ever eat. Definately a favorite of my fraternity brothers and I after a long night spent.....studying HAHA

The first place I ever remember eating fish was at the Kingfish down from Spaghetti Junction in Louisville. I remember the trips back being good as well.

 

Texas Outlaws BBQ in Elizabethtown has the best BBQ east of Owensboro and south of the Montgomery Inn.

Looked like something I definitely want to check out. Prices weren't terribly expensive either.

 

I'm really lacking on my wine knowledge and would love to be able to figure it out. Any method to it or do you just let the servers suggest things to you and learn that way?

Some friends and I tried to go to one of those places on the down there a few years ago and they were getting ready to close and didn't get to go. It hasn't crossed our minds to go back since then but really need to get there and try it.

I have to say for the money$$$$ --Cheddar's in Florence is hard to beat--Also a big fan of the Bellevue Pasquales.
