There are some other coaches in the mix for the job at Cooper, but they still have to hire a football coach, so we still have a ways to go and a lot of speculation.

If you are an assistant coach and you want to be a head coach then you have to go for some jobs. Cooper offers a unique opportunity for anyone.

Now I don't know any of the people involved in the process, but I would think you can't sit back and hope something happens at your present place.

Bundy shouldn't, I think Rod Snapp should. He will be a very good head coach some day.

My feeling on this is as long as the AD that is there now is there when the job comes up he would want Sullivan. I'm sure some other people like B. Carr and a bunch of others would apply, but I think Tim would be favored if he still wanted it. LABS may no more about that situation though. I highly doubt that Holmes would offer the job to Wimzie which had been mentioned earlier. Another thing about this is if he gets a job like Cooper develops the program and the Holmes job doesn't open for 8 years there is no guarantee that he would leave.

 

My other feeling is that it would actually make him a better candidate b/c he will have a few more years of varsity head coaching experience. Nobody will expect him to compete for regional titles for a while anyway.

This all is probably rumors at this point, but I'm hearing a couple other high profile jobs will open at the end of the school year, which will have a domino effect on this, and several jobs. Look for some major movements (as many as 7 or 8) once the school year ends.

Mostly, but obviously certain openings could attract attention from other area (8th & 10th) programs. This may actually be a topic for another thread, as this one is about the Cooper job, although that may have some domino effect if they (Cooper) go with an existing head coach??

He has 1 year of head coaching experience. But it couldn't hurt him to get more.

First, my fault on the regional title game he actually sat a District Title game. And, no he was not retained for the 06-07 season. He was in talks to move up to principal before April 15th

and did not resign a contract. It was known throughout the building that the new principal wanted his own coach and was getting a lot of pressure from within, (see Ferguson), to make a change.

 

This is interesting comment. There was NO new principal on April 15th since Mr. Cooper was still the principal at that time and would be until his unfortunate death later in May.

 

I am pretty sure that TEACHING contracts are due by April 15th and since Niemi was at the school for 11 years he had tenure and therefore would be employed. I do not think coaching positions have the same time frame because how could you not rehire, for example, a baseball coach before April 15th when they are in the beginning stages of the season.

 

Although I think parental pressures play too heavily into coaching dismissals, I do not think parental pressure to have Niemi ousted would have had much merit if he had decided to stay and coach. He had a strong following and strong administrative support, which should be obvious since the new administration hired him as assistant principal. The implication that Ferguson(?) or any other parent would have that type of influence in this case seems to lack credence.

After what happened with Niemi's letter, there was quite a fraction within the building, and trust me I am there every day, to get somebody new to coach the team. There were staff members tired of having the same image of Ryle's teams year in and year out and they sided with parents that it was Niemi and not their fault. Parents are and will always be a problem at Ryle until a coach handles communication with the parents more effectively.

Teachers must be notified of a pay decrease by the same day contracts for the upcoming year are due. Unless the school was going to pay Nate the $8,000 to $10,000 a head coach makes in Boone County, NOT to coach, he was going to be the coach in 06-07. End of story.

Sandman you're wrong again. The teaching and coaching contracts are separate, trust me I've had both. They are signed separate and they don't "add" to your salary. You think you know everything but you don't so get over it.
