The same can be stated for 1997 and possibly 1975. 1974, St. X had the better the team and prevailed 3-0 in the playoffs after winningthe regular season matchup 21-0. As I have stated previously, I understand St. Xavier's philosphy is there are games won and games the Tigers should have won. They've never lost a game due to the other team being better prepared, better athletically or better coached.

 

6A semi-finals should be very interesting. Many, many starters are being replaced at both "green schools". The forthcoming season will be a strong test for both programs. Trinity may average only 28 points a game and rely more heavily on ball control offense and a stingy defense. St. Xavier will ride their running game as far as it can take them and also rely on several newcomers to their defense. 7 on 7 will be here soon!

First we have to change/modify the D for it to become stingy. I will agree given the potetial talent on the D side we could be a very good defensive team in 08 but only if the talent is cut lose more condusive to the abilities of the players.

Maybe one or two Rock supporters have said that Trinity will win again. Doesn't seem to be a concenses among either side. Not much input brought to the table outside of Jefferson Co.. Anyone have some projections from Lexington area, N. KY or Western KY??? Maybe remaining below the radar is the right way to go..... Kinda surprised that the majority of the Rock supporters are not jumping on the

"19" bandwagon. Just an observation...

If X is fortunate enough to win it all in 2008, great. It would not bother me at all if Trinity supporters, or any other school for that matter, claimed / felt they had the "best" team. I can respect others support and judgment for their team(s), however, their acknowledgement and endorsement of my teams accomplishment as "best team" is not necessary in my book.

Surely that little upstart team from St. Matthews (The Football Capital of Kentucky) can't compete with this years edition of the "best team to underachieve" without being lucky. It's pure luck that the score now is 18 to 11 and growing.

I think T would come in with the advantage but don't know enough about the qb situation to be 100% on this. X has a shot..as always. I know that it's getting frustrating for X to finish behind T so often over the past years. So once again I think that will be used to light a fire in the X belly. I know that both these teams seem to match-up well as far as talent.

 

I would like to know more about Manual & Male...what kind teams they will have this year? As well as other 6A teams out in the state that MAY have a shot.

Was Dixie Heights a better team? Did they outcoach T or did they make plays?

 

Was Stein's interception in the 4th quarter bad coaching? Or did he just make a poor throw on that throw and a good throw on the pass to Neagli? If D J Hall sacks Stein before the release to Neagli, was that bad coaching? Players made plays on both sides. It was tied after regulation and Trinity picks up 9 yards on their first down run, and then they dive in from the one. X picks up 2 on their first down. They were averaging 6 yards and got 2. It would of been easy to run it if Duece picked up 9. X tries to pass so second guessers say he should of run. Think about this-how many times did X score in the game and what method did they use the most to score on that night? Congrats to the Rocks and Tigers for a great game settled on the field. As to 2008, I don't think X and T will meet in the playoffs. X will be there again.

I have the opposite view of many (both T and X) on this thread regarding Trinity's demise in 2008. I think T's QB will be definitely be up to the task. I think their defense will be better. Kicking game? I don't know. Rushing game? Probably better, with the OL being the wild card. Receivers? Probably down, but not as much as you might think. As usual, it will probably take Trinity 7 games or so to put it all together. I have no inside information, I am just an observer. Let's talk again about October 15, 2008. Thank you.

I have not seen the brackets, but if the kid from Male is as good as advertised, I hope Trinity will be playing Male late in the playoffs. That is always an exciting matchup.
