Did Victor, Barnes, Swanagan, etc. in that time period not get player of the year either? If not, then its obvious.
Honestly, I don't remember if any of them won the award. Victor and Barnes were in the Class of '96 and Swanagan was two years behind them. You would have to check the KABC awards in the Sweet 16 programs for those years to be sure.

I'll have to check tomorrow then and get back with it on here tomorrow. Someone should make a post mid day and remind me.

Yes, he is, have you had the chance to see him play?

I saw him once during his Soph season & twice in his Jr. & at those times he didn't shoot well at all. This is surprising to hear that he is a pure scorer. That said, he did score something like 15 or so in each of those games but mostly from putbacks & easy shots off the "O" setup. Not really anything he created himself but this is good to hear as I said UK needs some pure scorers.

Would be great to have if he wasnt so lazy.

Amen to that.. I saw him at the All-A against Paintsville and thought he was the 4th best player on the floor.

I was with BellAlum today at the Sweet 16. And before hand I was saying how I hoped that he proves me wrong and comes in and plays his butt off and puts on a show for everyone. That didn't happen. He was lazy. He never went to the offensive boards. Stood around on defense and did not run to floor hardly at all. Whoever gets Hopson has their work cut out for him to get him to play hard.

No doubt. Edmondson didn't look like near the player people have made him out to be either. At least he played pretty hard though.

Edmondson is playing on a bad ankle ... he sprained it during the regional tournament. There were a couple of times he appeared to buckle and wince as he landed after taking a jump shot.

On many occasions over the past two years, he has been the Blazers' best player. At less than 100 percent, he clearly wasn't against Lexington Catholic.

Btw, if we got Hopson, this would be a pretty amazing recruiting class, according to Rivals.com - two 5 stars, a 4 star, and a 3 star.

Does UK have a commitment from a big kid yet?

I believe his form on his jumpshot has gotten worse. He jumps forward like 3 feet on his shoot for 1 thing. He also took several bad shots. IMO he wouldn't stick out in the 11th region. Every team in Lexington have players as good as him or better.

Does he always jump that far forward on his jumper? I dont know how he could be consistent on that.

Hopson passed up a lot of open jumpers. I thought he shot better than that. Has a bad habit of running into/over people as well. Several times he would cause contact you dont want to call or got charging calls (questionable ones I will concede) instead of pulling up for the short jumper that he could assuredly jump over them to get off. Looks like the kid needs to learn about the mid range game.

Kind of thought he was a little more passive than he should be as well.

LAZY today... That is the truth... Didn't hustle. Didn't box out. Didn't rebound. Didn't do much for an offensive set, just broke people donw off the dribble, and then had a dunk with a minute when his team was pretty much out of it which looked to be a "look at me" dunk... Not impressive....

Edmondson was worse. Didn't handle defensive pressure well. Didn't show a good J. Didn't play much D. At least Hopson ended up gettin his points at the end. What did Edmondson end up with? 9?

Well, he isn't healthy right now, either. And the kid reportedly has an offer from St. John's, so I would think he would be a standout in any region.

Nothing wrong with causing contact if you're driving to the basket on a guy that doesn't appear to have position on you. Unfortunately for Hopson and UHA, a couple of calls went against him in those situations.

Hopson needs to get somewhere where he can't get by on talent alone and has to work for his minutes. Then we'll see what kind of player he is.

Isn't that sad though, that he has to go somewhere, where he may not get to play as much if he doesn't work to get him to play hard? Laziness is a learned behavior and hes learned to be lazy. Its not going to be easy for him to break his bad habits.
