Scotty Hopson

Btw, if we got Hopson, this would be a pretty amazing recruiting class, according to Rivals.com - two 5 stars, a 4 star, and a 3 star.

It may not be Hopson at all, if anyone is really familar with the 2ND region and University Heights you would understand! Maybe it's not that the coachs feel a certain way about Hopson, but the school itself! Everyone knows that Scotty is the best player in the 2ND hands down but no one is going to vote UHA too fast. His teammate should have been a close second to Scotty also!

I understand there is a lot of disdain for UHA out there, but why hold it against the kid?

I noticed that Rivals doesn't have Kentucky even on the list for Hopson.

It's not Rivals' list, the players make their own lists. They haven't been on there for a while btw.

University Heights has long had some players not get some of the recognition due them because of the animosity toward the program. If I remember correctly, Greg Buckner didn't even get within sniffing distance of the Mr. Basketball award in the year that Elton Scott (Marion County) won the award. In my mind, there was reason to think that Buckner was the better player.

I'm assuming that has come into play here with Hopson. Josh Terry is a quality high school player, but he's #4 at best in the 2nd Region, behind Hopson, Edmondson and Hood in no particular order.

So is McCoy Coach of the Year in the 2nd Region?

Starns of Henderson

I will be surprised if Hopson does not end up at UT..........although potentially getting more playing time and shots at UK could sway him.

Cincinnati is on his list, and more shots and time are there than anywhere else.

I understand your question fully but, just hanging out here on BGP you see and hear it on a daily basis just pick a thread on most days. We can't be so naive to think this has nothing to do with the decision made here. Remember Greg Buckner, Isiah Victor, Lamont Barnes? All from UHA, all D-1 big college recruits! Thats all I'll say about that:sssh:

I too think it must have something to do with the how the other coaches feel about the UHA. But I still don't think you take it out on one of the best players to come out of KY in a long time. Shame on the 2nd region coaches!

If they were honest and unbiased, Scotty would have been the hands down winner! I'm amazed at how things happen in our little part of the state.

I really hope Mr. Hopson comes to Lexington and plays for Billy G.

So do I!:jump:

I think Buckner has turned out a little better than Scott as well. :thumb:

Did Victor, Barnes, Swanagan, etc. in that time period not get player of the year either? If not, then its obvious.

It's kind of amazing to me though. It's pretty obvious a lot of schools in the 11th dont care for SC ro Lex. Cath. but if a kid at those schools proves to be the best, they get the credit for it. Heck, Hicks won coach of the year this year and I dont think there is a doubt that it should have gone to Ligon.
