March 13, 200818 yr Wow, a lot of hatred for the Herd. Now to be fair I only listen to the shortened podcast version of the Thundering Herd but my wife also enjoys it. He is pretty funny and keeps it entertaining.
March 13, 200818 yr Channel 142 for me...Fox Sports Radio..... FSR is on one of our local AM stations now, and I listen to that more than ESPN Radio. They also broadcast Dan Patrick, which is a real treat.

March 13, 200818 yr I would sometimes watch Stephen A. Smith's show on ESPN (is it still on?). And I noticed that everything turned into a race issue. Could not stand it. Not everything is about race. And the vast majority of his guests were African-American. I do agree that race does play a part in some things, but not everything.
March 13, 200818 yr I listen every day to ESPN radio on sirius. Mike and Mike sometimes, mostly the herd because he cracks me up. Dan P was the man, I loved when he had Reggie Miller on! That was great radio when those two would start calling each other by their real names, too funny.

Aside from his blatant attempts to turn the simplest subject into a race issue, he also has to be the single biggest "flip-flopper" I have ever listened to. He will tell you right now that the Lakers are a lock for the NBA finals, but if they lose tonight he would call them the most overrated team in the NBA. And don't dare disagree with him he is always right. I love Mike & Mike except for two things: 1. During football season you might as well forget hearing any college football news. They are 99.9% NFL, and if they do talk about college then you can bet money Notre Dame will be that topic. It really got irritating during the bCS Bowls when I would wake up to hear their thoughts on the games, but instead hear about 4 hours of Spygate. 2. 3/4 of the time you are lucky to actually get Mike AND Mike... usually it's only one of the Mike's, if ANY.

That is why I never really got into Mike and Mike. It was June or July of some year I think when I first listened to them, and they talked football for about 2 or 3 hours straight. They rarely show any love to baseball or basketball, which is where a lot of my interest lies. At least Cowherd talks about stuff other than football.
March 13, 200818 yr :DTony Kornheiser and Dan Patrick now have shows on the xm sports channel. I'm awaiting the merger, if it ever happens for these guys and the baseball coverage on XM.

March 13, 200818 yr Stephen A. Smith is Exhibit A as to what is wrong with sports talk radio. He may know the NBA and the personalities involved, but he is downright clueless when it comes to discussing any other sport.
March 13, 200818 yr That's what I hear as well. What do you hear is the hold up? Stern talks about it from time to time, but you never know how you can take things from him. FCC and that Sirius, actually, had a better sales quarter. That wasn't expected.
March 13, 200818 yr ESPN Radio has too many commercials and they last too long. I never liked Dan Patrick. I rarely listen to anything other than Colin Cowherd on ESPN...my radio (SIRIUS) rarely leaves NFL Radio. Typically, during one of their breaks, I'd check ESPN to see what was going on...as often as not they were on commercial also, but if they weren't, sometimes I'd listen until they did.
