I was upset that Euton was getting pounded the whole night and nothing was called. Next I would like to say that I think RH coach should have realized this and given Euton a breather in the second quarter. He was being double and triple teamed and that is hard for anyone, Mike Davis did great and in the first quarter and then he was gone. I do not understand RH coach at all?

How many coaches would have allowed for those distractions to happen? Not too many.

 

I am proud of the job Mays has done in getting through the distractions and I'm proud of the team for responding in a positive way. However, these distractions usually end at the top and usually begin at the top.

I'll be rooting for whomever reaches the sweet 16 from our region but "sleeper" may not be a great moniker. Odds are Mason Co. will be right up in their grill in the first round, so I'd recommend being "unconscious".

In the last 3 years Coach Mays has led Elliott County to a Class "A" regional title, 2 runner-up finishes in the EKC confrence, a EKC confrence title, 3 straight district titles, 3 straight regional finals appearances, 1 regional title, and a quarterfinals appearance in the state tournament. Just a little information to add to the aurgement.

 

:thumb: Along with a 50-10 record over the last two seasons and still going in this season. Like I was trying to say in an earlier post, Mays must be doing something right, those kids are extremely talented but they do not coach themselves. Please no one say that they do:rolleyes:.

Enjoy this team and group of kids, it may never come around again for a small school like Elliot Co. :thumb:. (I am not salmming small schools, I am an alum and fan of a small school)

With that said, I was talking to a few people from Elliott regarding the coach/players and everything, I would say I agree with you 100 percent that Elliott led Mays to those accolades. No need to turn this into anything negative because it is a team effort all around. I just wanted to agree with that statement. :thumb:

I agree with you on the great run and likely what will be another great year, next year. I really hope they win tonight and that shock the world stuff can happen next year if the 16th matches up with the 11th at Rupp. :thumb:

I will address both comments, you (Elliot) have a record of 25-3 this season and 25-7 last season. Have won back to back district titles, are getting ready to maybe win a back to back 16th Region title, last season you did win the 16th region and went on to Rupp to advance to the final four of the Sweet Sixteen Boys H.S. State tournament. That proves two things to me for sure..........

1.) you have to have very good talent and good, dedicated kids.

2.) Your Coach must be doing someting right! A record of 50-10 over the last two years and so far and still playing this season. :eek:.

 

I am not putting down or singling out anyone by quoting these paticular post and I certainly mean nothing personal. I am just saying that I have read several comments from time to time on here about the Elliot coach and complaining about referees and the like along with other things. Again, nothing personal and just an observation from an outsider to the Elliot program..........

I wish that the Elliot fans (some, not all) coud enjoy their kids and school's sucsess more than they do. I remember times and not to long ago and for years that Elliot was a pretty bad basketball team and the talent was lacking, hardly no one in the bleachers sporting them and quite frankly were the team along with one or two others that people were wanting to draw or play in a tournament.

So, Elliot fans what I am trying to say is that you have a fantastic basketball team filled good kids as well that are on that team. These times are not going to last forever and I know that other teams fans are enjoying watching this group of kids play so I hope that their own fans (again, not all) could quit looking to point fingers and find blame and enjoy your team playing, they are very good. Learn to handle and deal with sucsess. Of course having said al of this I realize that there are always things that go on "behind the scenes" that no one on the outside would know and those kind of things imo should be dealt with internally and kept that way.

There will always be some outside people finding ways to put your team/kids down, that is a promise, they certainly don't need it coming from the "inside" as well. I guess what I am trying to say is that time goes by way too quickly and none of know what is in store in the future for any of us so enjoy the present.:thumb:

They went to the 2nd round, not 3rd.

Congrats to Elliot County on the win, you were the better team last night. You came back from a 18-9 lead held by Rose Hill after the end of the 1st period. You all shot the lights out in the 2nd, 3rd, and beginning of the 4th. Evan and Ethan led this team, no doubt about it. Ferguson and T. Knipp had good games also. Evan IMO should be the MVP of the regional tourney this year if he has a good game, and if they win.

 

As for Rose Hill you all played hard, and left it all out on the court! You all were down by as much as 15 and you boys came back to within 3, while having a good shot to tie. I didn't exactly understand while Mike Davis and Robbie Barber, who started and played well, both logged in under 14 minutes of play? I think they should have played more in the second half, seeing how they are the teams leading scorers behind Euton and Jackson. But that is neither here nor there. Good season Royals!! Keep your heads held high!!

Very good game to watch between two good teams who probally set the standard for "playing hard" in the 16th! Too bad either team had to lose

and now they both have one win in high stakes games.

I thought T Knipp provided the edge when he came back in the game in the 4th quarter when Rose Hill was making their run.

I have always felt that coach get way too much credit and way to much blame for what happens during a game but I think you have made some valid points in this discussion.
