March 11, 200818 yr But one of the factors in determining the top 25, 50, etc is team and conference SOS, thus, its a factor. I'm not sure how you can ignore the mathematical side of this but I have a 6:00 alarm awaiting me so we'll resume this tomorrow. Mine is 5:30 so sounds good to me.
March 11, 200818 yr I think the conference RPI may come into play, when you look at how a team did within their conference. If a team went 12-4 in a conference that is considered by the RPI as being the 4th best, it may be used to compare against a team that went 12-4 or something similar in a conference not rated as highly by the conference RPI. It is a tool, which may be used more or less than other criteria. I think the last 10 games and not suffering bad losses (RPI 100+)down the stretch is used more than people realize. A lot of variables are used and I think that the Conference RPI is a tool that may be used...
March 11, 200818 yr It matters b/c we're not discussing whether the SEC would beat the Big East in a 40 man Battle Royal. The Committee, when it comes to seeding, is going to look at this "amazing turnaround" (:lol:) that has come in the last 6 weeks has come against a very less than stellar schedule. It is quite a turnaround considering what they have overcome. It would be interesting to see what other teams over the last 10-20 year have entered conference play with a 6-7 mark only to reverse itself in a top 5 conference and finish the regular season at 18-11. Most of the national pundits agree that this turnaround is very impressive. This team has had many opportunities to break, but has not...a true testament to their toughness.
March 11, 200818 yr Aside from UT and Vandy, are there any other solid wins? Florida and Arkansas are close to solid, but neither are gonna make the tourney, IMO. You have to play your conference teams. You can't help how good or bad, inexperienced or experienced they are.

March 12, 200818 yr You have to play your conference teams. You can't help how good or bad, inexperienced or experienced they are. It seems to me that I heard Jay Bilas say that if you play in a weak conference then it is your job to go out and play the toughest non-conference you can to prove your worth. If you play in a tough conference then your non-con schedule it not as overtly important to the selection.
