Two questions:

 

1) Do you think Kentucky will get in the NCAA tourney?

2) If they do get in, will you think they should not have?

I think they will make it.

 

I think they will make it but are in a group of about 10 teams where you could pick any of them and I would not be upset.

It matters b/c we're not discussing whether the SEC would beat the Big East in a 40 man Battle Royal.

 

The Committee, when it comes to seeding, is going to look at this "amazing turnaround" (:lol:) that has come in the last 6 weeks has come against a very less than stellar schedule.

 

Vandy, UT, then Ark, Ole Miss, and UF. Those last 3 are all teams that people consider bubble teams, and if they would have beat UK. They most likely would be almost locks in the tournament. So UK beat two two ten RPI teams, and 3 other teams who they were fighting against on the Bubble. So they have played some decent competition, and then also beat the teams they were definitely suppose to beat in conference. So all of that is definitely an amazing turnaround, because they were losing to those teams they were suppose to beating early in the year.

Good job, i will quote what I said earlier. The RPI of the SEC teams hat UK has beaten this season is 97.75. That number doesn't lie. Throw in the fact that they beat a high Vandy and UT team and it shows just how bad the rest of the teams were.

For the record, I think they make it and they deserved it. There's no denying the fact though that the "turnaround" at the end of the season came against the soft part of the schedule.

The San Diego loss is a little more respectable after they won their conference tournament. The Houston loss however is the one that looks the worse out of all losses.

 

UK is definately a different team now though and would beat both teams if they were to meet again.

Let me add one thing to this discussion. As far as the losses to teams like Gardner-Webb and San Diego, that will not happen when there are 12 or 13 players on scholarship who can play at the highest level. It also wouldn't happen right now, IMHO. Right now, w/o Patrick, there is probably 5 or 6 at that level. As far as winning Conference games, you have to play them. Since 98 is in on this, I will use IU as an example. The Hoosiers can't help if the bottom feeders in the Big Ten have RPI's of 100 or more. (I am referencing to future seasons.) They have to play them. So I guess what I am saying is the Powerhouses in the top 6 Confernces shouldn't have fingers pointed at them if they go on a 10 or 11 game winning streak in Conference play, just because maybe 4 or 5 of the wins came at the expense of the lesser lights.

I 100% agree with you. But when that happens don't think it is b/c of some miraculous turnaround orchestrated by a coach who, despite all his public relations attempts as of late, is still surrounded by a huge cloud of uncertainty.

The players have bought in. Also, after Patrick got hurt, Jasper, Harris,and Stevenson have stepped their games up. They had to. It helps to play some of the lower tier teams in your Conference, but at the same time, they do have some players who can play too. I am talking about all the teams in all the so called Power conferences.
