100% Public Girls State Basketball Tournament

Featured Replies

The 2008 "Sweet Sixteen" Girls Basketball Tournament will be guaranteed a public school winner this year.

All of the entrants are public schools, with no private school representation.

Not being smug, or looking to refuel an already hot topic - but just to show that in this day and age, when the general consensus is that the privates dominate and have a leg up on the publics, the publics all come out on top.

Cudos!!!

That's what happens when the scholarships are taken away.

Get real.

If either Butler (traditional school) or Manual (magnet school) win it all, we'll hear about the open enrollment thing for a while ...

Which cuts right to the core of the complaining.

It is really about an inferiority complex more than anything.

To me, the bigger issue is the lack of small schools in the tournament -- Breathitt County and Elizabethtown look to be the smallest schools in the tournament and they are 3A in football (Old 2A).

It's time to class all sports in Kentucky.

Based on the reasons for the previous success garnered by the private schools, this year the publics must have outworked, outsupported and outcoached the private schools.

Isn't that the reason for the ALL A Classic?

What about 2A schools?

Play with everyone else I guess.

I was getting at the fact that if the state has an ALL A classic, then this is a direct shot at classification. Why not have an ALL AA, ALL AAA, etc, etc?

Simple reason is because basketball in Kentucky prides themselves on having 1 champion, mainly from the boys basketball perspective. It is one the namesakes for the state. It won't change IMO.

I agree it won't change and has nothing to do with 1 champion but rather those with the money to sponsor want one tournament.

As Cuba would say, SHOW ME THE MONEY.

I was waiting for someone to start this thread.:lol::lol:

Good luck to all these teams. I am sure they all got there by hardwork and dedication to the sport!

A lot of 2A football schools are in the All A.

Let's hope classifying basketball is never considered.
