March 8, 200818 yr He will be before Homer IMO. You mean he'll be in the rotation before Homer? I'd wholeheartedly disagree. I don't think we'll see Cueto, barring injury, until June or July. I just think the Reds leadership is going to be very cautious in bringing him up early when he was in A ball last year.

If I were a betting man I'd take that bet. If Cueto is not in the rotation then there should be a mutiny at Great American Ballpark. This kid is the 2nd coming of Mario Soto. On display on the mound is not just Cueto's outstanding fastball and change-up (oh, the change), but also his confidence. Not at any point did Cueto look as if he didn’t belong -- not just on the Ed Smith Stadium mound, but on the mound at Great American Ball Park or Yankee Stadium or the moon. Not only did Cueto dominate -- the only hit he surrendered was a liner by first baseman Scott Hatteberg by former National League batting champ Freddy Sanchez -- he did it making the Pirate hitters look like Little Leaguers. No. 34 (Homer Bailey) better turn it up a notch.”

Encourage the guy that is doing well and send a subtle message to others to pick it up. If Homer takes his advice and "turns it up a notch" then it is even better for the Reds. So they way I hear it if the season started tomorrow Volquez and Cueto would have good cases to be in the rotation... Correct?

March 8, 200818 yr The Reds a quickly building a championship caliber pitching staff. With Cueto, Volquez, and Bailey they could be a force soon. My concerns going forward are catcher and shortstop. They seem to have young talent at just about every other position.
