March 5, 200818 yr Tubby deserves to be honored by the University. I don't understand the rationale behind "honorary degrees" though. Why not an appropriately named prestigious award of some type to signify the University's appreciation for the accomplishments of the honoree? Why does it have to be an "honorary degree"?
March 5, 200818 yr Paul Patton and Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, the former president of India are also getting them along with the former director of the UK Debate team. I have to go to a speech by Dr. Kalam, I'd rather hear Tubby.

I agree...I've always found that kind of silly. But, I have no problem with Tubby being honored...he deserves. Just seems like they could come up with something besides an "honorary degree".
