Dedicated or Stupid ?

Featured Replies

I never have been a runner, so right off I don't understand the need to go out and do something that was always used as puishment when I played sports. In the pouring rain at 5 in the morning today I saw three different people out running. Some may say dedicated I say stupid.

The motto of cross-country runners:

"Our sport is your sport's punishment."

I was a runner years ago and actually got pretty good at it and it helped pay for college. I never viewed it as punishment, there were actually times it was relaxing and cleared my mind. Like any other sport, you have to practice to become good.

I don't know what it is about running but it just gets to ya. After awhile you feel misserable if you don't get out and do it. I hate taking that first step out the door, but ten minutes in the run I'm feeling pretty good.

I can't run on pavement anymore due to knee problems. I must admit, running on the treadmill is absolutely boring. I miss being out in the elements and the change of scenery.

Running is helping pay for my college right now. I had to have a large amount of leg muscle removed this summer due to an injury, but I hope to be back next fall/

I vote dedicated!

I used to run a LONG time ago. I am thinking about picking it up again. I really like power walks at this time.

Running and working out, like most things in life that are good for you, absolutely suck. But, luckily, it gets easier and easier the more you do it.

I work out often, but running is really hard for me to do consistantly. Since someone stole my knee brace though basketball or football aren't options so I'll be just running this summer.

I do a lot of cycling, a good 20 mile ride makes me feel great!!!

Henry, tell LN to put the treadmill in front of the T.V. I've done this and it works great. I've ran over 100 miles while watching the HHS Highlight DVD. I'm not even half way through the season yet.................::D

After listening to everyones opinions and work out preferences I have become very tired and I will now have to push myself to go through with my daily workout.

My normal routine around this time daily would be a sandwich drowned in mayo and maybe hot sauce depending on the kind of sandwhich and then a nap. I might also lift a couple of weights, a coffee cup or the 12oz. can at a time power lift. :D I may not be building any muscle or health benifits but I have found that one can really stick to this program much better and not quit after two or three weeks like most workout programs go for people.
