March 4, 200818 yr The Bengals would not let him leave the Cincy/NKY airport for Phoenix..... the organization could not afford another punch out.
March 4, 200818 yr The Bengals gave him $30 million over 5 years? Wow... That's a lot to give a guy who's never gotten over 8 sacks. He could be great for them, but that is a ton of money! Osi Umenyiora's last contract was only 6 years $41 million... Along wth the eight sacks, Odom had 44 tackles, led the team in quarterback pressures with 29, and tied for the front seven lead in passes defensed with seven. He played a key role in Tennessee's 16-10 playoff-clinching win on Dec. 30 at Indianapolis, sacking Jim Sorgi twice. Odom led or tied for the team lead in sacks in five games last season. He helped preserve a 13-10 season-opening win over Jacksonville with a sack of David Garrard late in the fourth quarter. He is still young and has a lot more upside than JS. Gotta pay to play, the Bengals are realizing that.. now if they could just learn how to trade.
March 4, 200818 yr Author The Giants led the league in guys on IR a few years ago and when I complained about their injuries, I was told by some on here that injuries are a part of the game, and that the good teams battle through those injuries. I disagree with whoever said that. It is not the number of injuries that matters; it is to whom they occur. OL-Levi, Steinbach, Anderson(3/5 of starters) RB-Rudi, Perry, Irons(top 3 rushers) LB-Brooks, Jeanty, Henderson, Marshall, Pollack, Thurman (mental injury)(6 LB's!!!!!) How would the Giants have done? Jacobs, Bradshaw, Ward Pierce, Mitchell, & 4 others C & 2 starting tackles
March 4, 200818 yr OL-Levi, Steinbach, Anderson(3/5 of starters) I didn't realize Steinbach was on the roster last year...
March 4, 200818 yr According to Bengals.com, he had 44 tackles. http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6670 Vandenbosch was the other DE, who is very good. I totally agree with your implication that Odom is not the savior; they need Ellis from USC bad; the Bengals will have a shot; they just need Ryan, McFadden, J. Long, and Clady to go in the top 8. I'm also hoping the deal for Robertson can be revisited, as mentioned in an ESPN article. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3274297 I checked the Titans website. The Bengals website is unreliable:rolleyes:
March 4, 200818 yr nfl.com/Titans team site Odom stats 2007 21 Tackles/8 sacks 2006 9 Tackles/.5 sacks 2005 31 Tackles/2 sacks 2004 21 Tacklse/2 sacks. I'd go with these numbers before Bengals.com
March 4, 200818 yr I didn't realize Steinbach was on the roster last year... There you go ruining a good debate with facts again:laugh:

Osi Umenyiora's last contract was only 6 years $41 million... Overpaid...bad move. Perhaps a panic move to try and get something and save face after losing out on the other guys. Keep in mind that Odom got those 8 sacks on a D-line that featured Albert Haynesworth and Kyle Vanden Bosch...who's going to take that pressure off of him in Cincy. He's is a downgrade from Justin Smith. Bengals fans should be upset, not excited. Personally, I'd prefer to see my team stand pat rather than waste money...
March 4, 200818 yr It's funny to see HB spin everything negative in any sort of Bengals thread. I think the spin on this story is trying to make it out to be a positive...

Never:rolleyes::lol:
March 4, 200818 yr I think the spin on this story is trying to make it out to be a positive... Perhaps and I agree that we gave him a little too much money, but any HB post in a Bengals thread will be negative about them.
March 4, 200818 yr It's funny to see HB spin everything negative in any sort of Bengals thread. I view everything as realistic. I said that the Rogers trade would have been good, had it worked out, just stinks to lose draft picks. Same with Robertston, as long as they went with the 4-3. This signing, is not that good IMO. He hasn't been a super star therefore he does not deserve this kind of money. 5wide has it right when saying the only spinning here is the spin that makes this look like a good deal for the Bengals. Odom struck gold!
March 4, 200818 yr Perhaps and I agree that we gave him a little too much money, but any HB post in a Bengals thread will be negative about them. :lol: Not always true. Is it possible you just believe that because I don't always agree with what the Bengals do? I don't even agree with everything the Giants do, much less the Bengals.
