February 24, 200818 yr Author 1.) Jimi Hendrix - never has and never will be another Hendrix. Jimi was a complete beast on guitar and the way he has played has never been mimicked. Furthermore his performances were just so incredible. Jimi plays Monterey, Woodstock, and At The Isle Of Wight, all are just mind blowing. On top of that Jimi was just a super cool guy and the epitimy of an Icon. 2.) Jimmy Page - Innovative to say the least. Had maybe the best riffs of all time and perhaps even the best solo (Stairway). His epics though were what symbolizes Jimmy in my opinion. Everyone knew his jam abilities even streaming from the Yardbirds, but in some of the Led Zep epics Jimmy became more than just an ordinary player. Also Page just played so many styles of blues rock guitar it was crazy. Anyone ever want to doubt Jimmy just watch some Led Zeppelin live. The rest of my list I really cant put a number on because they are all so great. But if I have to throw about 10-15 more of the bests and some of my favs in there you would have this in no particular order. Eddie Van Halen -all you need to say is eruption Eric Clapton - clapton is clapton Toni Iommi -godfather of heavy metal Jeff Beck - best pure guitar player, beautiful notes Buddy Guy -without him wouldn't be a lot of others Allen Collins - solo master Zakk Wylde - covered him enough Ted Nugent -the nuge was an animal David Gilmour - don't need to say much on this one Stevie Ray Vaughn - one of the bluesiest ever to play Ace Frehly Joe Satriani Robby Krieger - played some nice licks for the doors, didn't use a pick Dimebag Darrell Abbott - absolute shredder, one of the fastest Chuck Berry Chet Atkins Slash - music speaks for itself Kurt Cobain - brought about a new style of music through his playing
