Pinstripe warnups are great! Silver Grove got them last year thanks to coach B.

I agree with you -- a lot of the teams look sloppy. Then again I see a lot of players attempting to wear their shorts pass their hips. Then again that falls on the coach's lack of keeping his players in line.

 

I totally agree with you guys, last night at the Henry Clay game it seemed as if every player on thier team had 4XL shorts and jerseys on, they were tucking them in every 30 seconds or so, just looked very sloppy which is sad because thier home uni's are very sharp IMO.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that they way most uniforms are designed nowadays are just sloppy? After every play, the players have to keep tucking or else half of the shirt is hanging out. Even all the way out doesn't look as crappy as partly in/partly out does, which is how it looks most of the time. If I were a player, I think that it would drive me crazy to constantly be fussing with my uniform. I'm all for the players looking respectable, but since the longer shorts have come into basketball, I think it would probably look better for the shirts to be designed to hang out, but with taste. When the shorts were short it might've looked dumb for the shirt to be hanging out, but with longer shorts I think it can be done more easily and still look good. I bet that the players would like it that way too.

 

It could be done a little better, I agree. However, going back to what I wore in the 80's is a no no. Those shorts were too tight and the tops were glued to you. You had to get assistance to put your jersey on back then.

 

The only thing I do like nowdays are the kids who arent afraid to pull up their socks. I keep trying to get my son to do it but he is stuck on wearing footies and rubbing his achillies raw. I dont get it.

If I remember correctly, it was like practice. Every call we made,it was similiar to yours and vice versa. Both teams knew what was coming and how to defend it.

It seems like I recall in recent years that Holy Cross had their Indian emblem in an awkward spot right on their butts. I could be wrong about that. It might've been another team. It seemed like it was in a spot that if you were sitting the bench you'd be sitting right on it. I'm pretty foggy about that though. I'm thinking it was over 5 years ago maybe?:confused: Who knows, it might've been incentive to play so well that you didn't have to sit the bench or else you'd be branded with an Indian design where the sun don't shine.

 

Holy Cross, I believe, still has an Indian on their back side. And I recently noticed that Scott has "Eagles" in the same horrible area.

I loved the pin strip shorts and solid shirts that several teams from the 70's wore.

I must say that the first time I ever saw the Ryle Raider's uniforms my stomach did a little flip-flop. I think it was 2001 when Doellman was a sophomore, but no one knew who he was yet and Ryle wasn't any good. I give them a thumbs up for breaking the same-old-same-old colors tradition and such, but I wasn't ready for the orange, gray, black and maybe white combination. (Maybe someone could verify all the colors that they use). I've warmed up to it little better over the years, but it really caught me off guard at first. I thought that it was way too busy and way too ugly. :eek:

I remember watching a televised Illinois (WGN used to do them) HS basketball game years ago. I don't remember the unis, but it was the mascots. The Wooden Shoes were playing against (I think) the Cornjumpers.

Teutopolis is the Wooden Shoes ... a lot of Dutch influence there, I suppose.

 

Hoopeston-East Lynn is the Cornjerkers. Thad Matta played there in the early and mid-1980s.

You're right, I forgot about that. I really liked that look. I thought that was pretty cool.

The knee high 3 color striped socks were the best. We always wore those.
