Here are the striped warmups

 

I remember those -- I liked them. I also remember when they would play Newport at the old gym -- they would do like a figure eight toss with the basketball -- very impressive. :ylsuper:

I just thought of something -- you really don't see a lot of schools wearing the full warm ups anymore. Anybody have any thoughts as to why they don't? I always thought that made the pre game warm ups more exciting waiting for the tip off.

I agree. When I was in high school we got the late 1970 black pants with white pinstripe hand me downs and this was 1986/87. I think we had 2 separate warmups with pants and tops. 3 different uniforms. We had a Yellow uniform with black lettering, and then a black away and white home uniform at Bellevue. We broke out the canary yellow uniforms for big home games or tourneys. My Sr. Yr they finally broke down and got rid of the 10 yr old uniforms and the new ones left alot to be desired.

What a flashback, I was a freshman this year. :scared:

I loved the pin strip shorts and solid shirts that several teams from the 70's wore.

Bracken Co. wore the candy cane warm up pants. They were ugly and they were a bad team. I think Mason Co. beat them by 50 something at the fieldhouse the year that Mason went to the state finals.

Come on guys a thread like this is bound to turn up some great photos? Surely nobody would be embarrased to put up a picture of themselves with sideburns, knee high socks, and short shorts would they?

Is it just me or does anyone else think that they way most uniforms are designed nowadays are just sloppy? After every play, the players have to keep tucking or else half of the shirt is hanging out. Even all the way out doesn't look as crappy as partly in/partly out does, which is how it looks most of the time. If I were a player, I think that it would drive me crazy to constantly be fussing with my uniform. I'm all for the players looking respectable, but since the longer shorts have come into basketball, I think it would probably look better for the shirts to be designed to hang out, but with taste. When the shorts were short it might've looked dumb for the shirt to be hanging out, but with longer shorts I think it can be done more easily and still look good. I bet that the players would like it that way too.

East Carter used to have almost baby blue uniforms back in the late 70's early 80's I believe. Thank the good Lord someone decided to go with the navy blue.

Fairview in the mid '80s wore all white warmups. Pants and jackets. We looked like doctors in the warm up line. I believe they choose them because of the doctors of dunk from Louisville, but we only had three guys who could.

Yeah, Raceland wasn't much better, we looked like dreamsicles.

I agree with you -- a lot of the teams look sloppy. Then again I see a lot of players attempting to wear their shorts pass their hips. Then again that falls on the coach's lack of keeping his players in line.

Trinity had some plaid shorts for a couple years in the 1970's. They're pretty hilarious... plaid plus 70's haircuts. I'll see if I can find a picture...
