February 13, 200818 yr TAMPA - A deputy roughly dumps a man out of a wheelchair, and he tumbles to the floor. Brian Sterner lands on his ribs, then rolls over and lies on his back while Hillsborough County Detention Deputy Charlette Marshall-Jones checks his pockets before she and another deputy put him back in the chair. These moments were recorded Jan. 29 by cameras in Orient Road Jail. The video has repulsed many and resulted in the suspension of Marshall-Jones, a 44-year-old deputy with 22 years on the job, and her supervisors. Sterner, 32, can drive a car, but he hasn't been able to walk for 14 years. http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/feb/13/na-toss-from-wheelchair-brings-jail-suspensions/
February 13, 200818 yr They all need to be fired! Supervisors did nothing at all either, except laugh at the incident.
February 13, 200818 yr This is the most inhumane thing I have ever scene or heard of in my life. The whole police dept needs to go to counseling.
February 13, 200818 yr They all need to be fired! Supervisors did nothing at all either, except laugh at the incident. Completely agree
February 13, 200818 yr Completely agree I also agree. But in fairness, I wish the media thought that instances where criminals hit cops, resisted arrest, etc were just as newsworthy. For some reason, we rarely hear about those circumstances and you know they happen much, much more frequently.

We can't say the same for every time a cop abuses his authority.
February 13, 200818 yr Jail? I think they should put these people under the jail...she was in a position of public trust, and she violated that trust. She, along with the supervisors who laughed at the incident, should be terminated with malice, meaning that they should never get a job in law inforcement ever again. PH quite agrees!!!

And I'm not excusing their behavior, but if the public knew all the crud that police officers have to deal with we may be a bit more "understanding" of why they sometimes crack and do these types of unacceptable things. Every time I hear a teacher complain of low pay, I immediately think of what police officers get paid, the risks they incur and garbage they have to deal with to get that meager pay.
February 13, 200818 yr I may be wrong, but I am not going to pass judgment until I can hear what was said, and see what was done leading up to this 20sec clip. I would say there was a lot of information that we do not see and hear.

It really makes me wonder how many other times has he shown this kind of behavior.
February 13, 200818 yr NO MATTER what was said, this should have never happened! NO MATTER WHAT! I agree 100% TC
February 13, 200818 yr I saw him on TV with his lawyer. Why did she do it? Did she think he was faking? I only got the tail end.

This was just stupidity, inhumanity, and dereliction of duty.
February 13, 200818 yr Author I saw him on TV with his lawyer. Why did she do it? Did she think he was faking? I only got the tail end. That's what I heard when I looked around for more info. The officer thought he was faking his condition and "dumped him" to prove her point. 20 plus years on the job and that's how she treats people? Just unbelieveable.
