The lighthouse at sunset is good brownie points with the ladies.

 

If you want real good sea food go to the run down looking places, I'm not sure why but they had the best food we found. :lol:

LN and I lived in Beaufort SC for 3 years. Now if you really want a fun time, I can set you up, but it's a 45 min drive from HH. We use to drive over to HH once in awhile and hang.

 

If you have ever watched the movie "The Big Chill", that was filmed in Beaufort. Actually I think between that movie and "The Great Santini" is Beauforts clame to fame. Other than the fact it is home to the infamous Paris Island and the Marine Corp Air Base. UUUUURRRRRAAAAAA

I plan on taking a golf trip this year and this is one of the places we are looking at going.

Dude, it's your honeymoon... I mean, yeah I could sit here and tell you about an "arcade" or like many have said, the golf courses, or the many mini golf courses, but in the end, its your honeymoon. Enjoy the beach, the poolside, and especially the relaxation, I like that best about HHI. Enjoy the sunsets on the docks at Harbortown or the lighthouse or walking the beach on a clear night and notice how awesome the moonlight looks on the water. I would also think a good honeymoon activity would be for you to find one of those wooden lifeguard chairs on the beach that sits about 8 feet off the ground and has a seat just big enough for two and to just sit and look at the stars and how vast they are without all the light pollution... It really is a pretty amazing thing to see...

Been there with the family numerous times and one time with some college buddies on a guy trip. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Beachside and hung out at the Tiki Bar and pool all day long. You talk about good times. Oh those were the days, endless cocktails, good looking girls in bikinis, plenty of sun...... I better wake up and get back to reality here.

 

Anyway, I would say just enjoy the beach, good food and time alone with your honey. Golfing was $90 a round when we went so if you arent a golf nut keep the clubs in the garage. Harbor Towne is a tourist trap. Fitzgeralds is a steak joint you have got to go to atleast one night. Best steak I have had in years.

 

There is also a Barb-Q joint down there that has all different kinds of sauces. Cant think of the name but I bought a few bottles of the Carolina Sauce and brought em back.

Hilton Head is a good spot ... for a couple reasons:

1. Savannah is about 30 - 40 miles South

2. Charleston is about 2 hours North.

 

Savannah is a must .... don't just do the touristy River Street deal ... walk around the historic parts ... see the impressive houses, etc. Or ... take a dinner cruise from Hilton Head to Savannah ... the chicks seem to dig that pretty well. Any city where you can walk around with a drink in your hand ... can't be all bad. It is a really short drive ... and you are going to get a chance to see more of the low country.

 

Charleston is the same way. Go see Rainbow Row and sample the old south. The food there is impressive--along with some of the civil war flavor. You can also check out things like the USS Yorktown .. which is pretty sweet.

 

As far as expense .... I am a little surprised that people are talking about how expensive things are. It isn't any worse than anywhere else. Plus .. it is your honeymoon (which means this is probably the last time that you are actually going to have fun with your wife to begin with ... so you may as well enjoy it).

 

Taking a day trip north .. through Beaufort (good call Henry) and then to Charleston would make one heck of a day. There are all kinds of little low country towns that offer something different on that route. It is definitely worth the time/effort.

Definitely go to Savannah for a day. Beautiful city with lots of historic & romantic places to go and do and see. The cruise from HH to Savannah would be a big hit with the wife, I'm sure.

Savannah on St. Patty's day is the real deal let me tell ya. River Walk is like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. NCAA games going all day in the bars, once again reminiscing. Back to reality.

The Salty Dog in Sea Pines Plantation near South Beach is a must. There are 3 other nice restaurants there that won't blow your head off as well as shops and a large outdoor bar if you have to wait which you probably will. Also Harbor Town is very cool with shops, restaurants, the boat docks and the golf course, there is usually free entertainment early in the evenings there and cheap drinks and grilled burgers etc.If you play tennis there are courts across the street from the Salty Dog, bike rentals and boat rentals behind the salty Dog.

Thanks for all of the info on here guys. I should be getting some info in the mail any day now. She is the office manager for Wellington Orthopedics in Clifton, and we are staying on the beach in the house that one of the Dr's owns. Word is the place is really nice, a lot of the doctors that work there use it for vacation. We have a nice private house on the beach and with some of the places you all posted on here we should have a great week. May can't get here soon enough.

We have already made place to go to Charleston. It looks like a beautiful place, and we want to meet Richard Davis from trademark properties we love his show!
