It's nice to see that people from other states are looking at KY football. It's a great stepping stone for someone with the drive and talent to prove themselves.

 

Try Jeffersontown High School. Their head coach position recently became open.

Kentucky has great coaches, Out of state resumes don't look that good if you don't know anything about the state. Most schools that have good programs and would hire someone out of state usually have someone in mind for a hire. Bad programs have administrators who know nothing about Football in thier own state let alone another state.

No offense to any KY coach or programs but the level of talent (overall) and competition in Florida is mindboggling. If you can compete and win at the state level there, your ready for 90% of the jobs in KY. Good luck in landing one.

 

I lived there 10 years and it was amazing the number of D-1 players just in the Orlando area. I once remembered Orlando Evans HS having every O lineman and 2 backups getting D-1 scholarships. Their size was bigger than the Washington Redskins (avg.320) that year and the highest recruit off of that team was Orlando Pace (Ohio St./St. Louis Rams). It's tough to compete with that.

 

Sounds to me like you help fbcoach77 prove his point...that Ky HS coaches, due to having less talent, are some best HS coaches in the US. Anyone can win with D-1 players running around everywhere. We prefer (yeah right) the challenge.

Teach the subject that the school desparately needs a quality teacher in. That will help. In your interview focuses as much if not more about what you are bringing academically to the kids that you will be teaching and how you will be able to help raise the school's test scores up.

 

Bottom line: Principals, who are the ones doing the hiring, are fired for the school's test scores NOT how well the football team does. The school is in crisis educationally but the football team is winning games, the principal is going to be fired.

What class is Palm Bay in? I know that alot of out of state coaches can get jobs, but sometimes its about impressions made, not whats on the resume. Face to Face interviews usually leave more of a lasting impression, and its easier to come across enthusiatic and portray your vision in person. There are still jobs open, and Garrard Co. just became open. Keep looking and good luck

 

Palm Bay is 5A(2600 students), 6A being the largest class in Florida. A lot of D1 talent moves through Palm Bay every year.

This is the truth! The coach at Frankfort is putting out feelers trying to go anywhere and can't even get a bite. He has been a decent coach over there with some great wins but evidently doesn't bring much to the table academically or professionally.

 

The real truth is other schools have contacted him about jobs the last 4 season. Every year he has turned jobs down. So far this off season he has turned down a big job that was actually offered with out even interviewing. So him not bringing much to the table must not have a lot to do with it.

why the slam? To my knowledge and I should know, I have had 1 interivew in my 5 years at Frankfort. I know I don't have to get on her and defend myself, but I think it is funny. Is someone to blame for wanting to move up in the coaching world, who wouldn't put there name in for the Boyle County job, you would be crazy not to. No feelers, wouldn't go that far, but that is fine. Looks as if you would not hide you feelings and if you have a real problem with Foley (me), you could always go to school and see him and take care of this. Let me restate, don't waste my time, I have no time for this and I'm trying to get my kids ready for next season, so if your a disgruntled parent whose son isn't playing deal with it, if your an alumni who don't like the way things are going (final 4 this year, when has that happened recently), maybe you should sit with me and we can talk this out. Other than that I see no real need to for the slam, but I'm thicked skinned and can handle it, have always had an open door policy and always will. Not sure what the professional comment is about, my teams have always played/looked professional on the field, academically, another good question, in 5 years here think I have 3 kids that have been ruled ineligible. Again, if you have concerns come to school and see me (only between 12:00-2:00), have class all morning. Look forward to talking about this in person and not behind some name.

Do you even know Foley? Have you observed him teach? Do you know how the students - players and non-players alike - respond to him? Do you know how successful he has been with the program? This is just absolutely amazing to me. That football program is one of the few positive things that have been going on at FHS (test scores have been reasonable) since 2003. ALL of the credit for that goes to the coach. He fights for the program and he fights for his kids and he takes care of business in the classroom.

 

This is why good people leave the profession - they can't please everyone and the disgruntled ones slander them on a message board.

Coach Foley does a tremendous job and has always conducted himself professionally. He has caught the attention of several schools since being at Frankfort and will continue to draw attention. If I were an administrator I would definately contact him. Coach Foley, continue doing what your doing and I wish you and the Frankfot program the very best. Keep up the Great Job!!

Coach Foley has molded the Frankfort football program into one to be highly respected in 1A and beyond. To belittle him with nothing but factless accussations is sad and disrespectful to both him and a fine football program.

 

And this is from a Trimble County football fan.

Just my opinion, but I would try to get an assistant job in Kentucky first. I don't know if you have head coaching experience or not, or what your credentials are, but I would say that being here and showing that you want to remain in Kentucky would go a long way. Almost every year there are multiple head coaching jobs open, and many of those open up OC and DC jobs at schools. I would try to get one of those first.

 

Mayfield has like 3 openings for Assistants...could be a good stepping stone for a young coach!
