He was an excellent coach with a really good staff. Garrard probably did have more talent during the 10-year period (1988-1997) than at any other time in school history, but that doesn't mean they've had bad talent in other years. They've spent too much time with some coaches and probably too little with others. Coach Dyehouse passed away after his third year and Coach Wooldridge left for Lincoln County after a couple years.

 

Bottom line is Garrard County is a winnable place with the right coach. With the wrong coach, it is what it is.

IMO Garrard always has talent. Its up to the coach to have discipline, a system and run it and support from the administration and community.

 

This job seems to be like a diamond in the ruff, but can they ever get over the hump?

Last night was Senior Night for the GCHS basketball teams. Apparently, the conversation about the football coaching position revolved around a college coach's application. He is out of state and his name wasn't used, but apparently some in the community are very excited about the possibilities.

I hope not. Our education department is in enough monetary trouble as it is without throwing money at this "guy!"

Better do your homework. The Golden Lions will see the talent pool improve steadily over the next 7-8 years.

 

Is there still a youth football program going on in Lancaster???

Just heard that Perry was offered the job as early as last week. He has turned it down. According to rumor, he said "no" because of community negativity toward the high school and the football program. Reference was made to some board member's lack of support for the high school. If true, Garrard County will have to move on in its search.

Plain and simple, Perry is not pursuing the job. No references toward community or board were made.

I'm not sure disappointed is the right word. He would be a good choice, but that's not the end of the world. I think a lot of the Perry rumors were hopeful more than truthful.
