Gotta feel bad for the seniors on Ashlands team. Every home game means a little more when it's your last year playing.

I really hate to hear this.....Big bucks just spent on the school renovation then to have this facing them....thats tough.....Not to mention likley budget cuts to begin with......

You never know, I just saw a story where a cable company sent a tornado victim a bill in the thousands for "unreturned/damaged equipment" :lol:

There is no way the districts would be played there this year. Whenever insurance is involved in these things, they get in no hurry at all. Also, the flooring company will insist on dehumidifying and totally drying out the floor underneath the wood, especially if it is concrete. This will all take months, not weeks.

They will probably be fortunate if they have the floor ready in time for next years pre season practice.

This hurts not only the basketball teams, but also all of the gym classes at the high school. A very unfortunate incident.

Is the court, setting on top of a concrete slab or elevated, with wood joists. Reason I ask, water can be absorbed by concrete and then in hot/cold cycles, expansion and contraction can result, leading to additional damage.

You hate to hear, about accidents affecting students and the use of a gym, for not only games but other activities.

99% of all wood floors are constructed on top of concrete slabs. Any issues with hot/cold cycles shouldn't be a problem because it's in a temperatured controlled environment. The issue that would certainly need to be addressed would be the moisture content of the concrete slab when the new wood floor is installed. With all the added water, i'm sure thats elevated the existing slabs moisture content. In most cases, wood floors are installed 30 to 60 days after a new slab is placed to allow for the moisture content of the slab to disappate.
