Gillispie's way starting to work at Kentucky

Featured Replies

I looked it up in the Basketball Ethics Handbook. It means:

1. To lose a bonus

2. To lose a scholarship

3. To make 577 impermissible phone calls

4. Cheater

5. Rule breaker

Dare I look up the definition of a gillespie?

Dare I look up the definition of a gillespie?

What's a "gillespie"?

:D

Maybe the fans will let up for a while. It's hard to come into a program the first year and break records.

I am not judging Gillispie on this season and you are correct in your statement. I am a U.K. fan and I have high expectations. I think that there is nothing wrong with that and I expect it. I also try to be realistic, this is a new coach - new system - new way of handling players and the list can go on.

As for the part that I highlighted about fans "letting up":lol:- This is U.K. that we are talking about and there is a certain pct. of our fans that are lets say......well, you know :D.

Wine cellar and wet bar?

Sorry, had to point that out.

:D

Eddie Sutton had a bar in his mansion ;):p jp

It is Billy-Ball time.

Against Tennessee he has the perfect game plan to beat that team, and executed it.

What's a babit? ;)

Dare some of you to look at the rules of BGP before you get in hot water. :sssh:

I think its funny that all these guys like Mark Story and John Clay were bashing him a few weeks ago and now don't have anything bad to say because things are starting to get turned around. One problem I see is these sportswriters are more fickle than the fans! Ive heard guys with radio shows bashing him the same way. It is ridiculous to be really critical and not give Coach Gi a chance to build the program his way.

The difference is that the team has bought into Gillespie's mode of thought and the results are there now. Who cares what he does or does not do in his personal life?

Are they good?

No

Are they fun to watch play?

Yes

Does Patrick Patterson need more help in the post?

It's coming

...and so are guards who will enter the ball.

Will they be a better team in the near future?

I really, really think so.

I care, to an extent.

I have no problem with Gillispie's method of coaching or handling of the team. It is his team and he needs to be given the reigns to run it his way. It is way too early to judge the results so I'm neutral on that topic until he has enough time to show what he can do.

I'm not crazy about his demeanor towards answering questions and his perceived arrogance in dealing with people around the program, but that is what it is and certainly no reason to not support him. Its a side issue, I guess, but not anything new for coaches.

But his character is important to me. He represents the University and he is in a position of influence and power. And that is not just with the 20 players he works with every day, but also in the eyes of many youngsters throughout the state. I expect him to use his head and not embarrass himself or the University at a minimum.

But as you say, if he wins, a lot of sins will be forgiven by the fans and the powers that be. Good or bad as it may be.

Seems his ego is as big as Ricky P's, hope his success is too.

I just watched that last night!

These guys work for the media..a media that would help sink this program like the Titanic if it sold more papers and got more airplay. I have a tendency to ignore them and form my own opinions and ,having watched this program since Dan Issell was a freshman, mine probably have more credibility.

I like Dave Baker and Rob Bromley. Not necessarily because of anything theyve done that is that great, just because I remember them from since I was a little boy. I'm just used to them.:D

I used to tape Bromley for later use. When I had trouble sleeping I played his monotone broadcast. Worked like a charm.

Actually, I didn't do this, but it would probably work.

:thumb: I agree, he did have the perfect game plan and the team executed it very well.
