January 25, 200818 yr Pacman Jones thinks it's a great idea. He's cashing his big bills for singles as we speak.... The forecast calls for RAIN!
January 25, 200818 yr It would be a cool idea. Unfortunately, since it would eliminate betting at all the Vegas Casinos there is no way that the local/state government would pass the legislation necessary to build such a complex. The whole pro athletes in Vegas isn't a good idea--remember how wild everything got when the NBA had their All-Star Game there?
January 25, 200818 yr If the game is in Vegas, it's also off the Sports Books. No dice... GT, I have a question then. I was out there a month ago and I bet the UNLV vs Arizona basketball game. And last year when I was out there people were betting on the NASCAR race that was in Vegas that week too. How does that work, but the Super Bowl not?
January 25, 200818 yr I don't like the idea of having the Super Bowl in the same place every year, simply because of the financial benefit it provides to the host city, and I believe that should be spread around. One suggestion I would make if I were in charge would be to move the Super Bowl to Saturday, instead of Sunday. I don't think there is any reason not to do this, and t would cut down tremendously on the number of people "calling in sick" to work/school the next day.

I see what you're saying, but "Super Bowl Saturday" just doesn't roll off the tongue the same way.
January 25, 200818 yr I see what you're saying, but "Super Bowl Saturday" just doesn't roll off the tongue the same way. Not right now but after a couple of seasons everyone would probably wonder why it wasn't done earlier.

Cowherd discussed this very idea at lenght yesterday on his show. He believes that it is only a matter of time until it happens. He made some good points in that the Superbowl has become a corporate event, and that corporations pay to make the Superbowl possible. He believes that eventually the corporaitons will demand the change to reduce lost productivity etc.

UNLV got an exemption a few years ago to be placed on the book. For years they were not on the book. Don't know about the NASCAR race, though.

Why would UNLV ask for an exemption to allow gambling on their games? What do they get from it but rather run a huge risk of a fix right in their hometown.

January 26, 200818 yr The town of Vegas was more than happy to see the NBA all star game come and go.
