January 24, 200818 yr I stand by my original statement. High school's and colleges around the country are full of great athletes with poor character. Just the facts, character doesn't help you throw, catch or run... Not to mention I don't feel Pulley is all that bad of a guy. I think his biggest problem has been his work ethic... Character problems do matter when they keep you off the field..
January 24, 200818 yr I don't have a preference for one over the other. I just want the best player out there. And best means not only the person who can best fit into the system that we run next year; but also the best leader and the best character. The qb spot is unlike any other position on the field. The person filling that spot has to out work every player on and off the field; has to lead by example on the field, in the locker room, in the class room and at the parties (and in a good way). He must command the respect of every player on the team. Is that Pulley? I don't know. Is that Hartline? I don't know. But what I do know that pure athletic talent without leadership and character isn't worth spit at the qb position.
January 24, 200818 yr Whoever wins the job is who it will be. Insightful. I also think that Lentz name has to be mentioned in this conversation. I heard he always looked good in practice and that the redshirt year did him well. He was a pretty good recruit coming in anyway, so he definitely should be considered here. I know the coaching staff is expecting all 3 guys to compete for the job this spring. They might mention Fidler, but I dont think he is realistically a candidate.

I would really like to see him win the job as I think that he's a little more talented than Hartline and it would allow Pulley to play wideout.

Yes, that was an insightful quote.
January 24, 200818 yr I say run the option with Curtis and Derrick and have Demario blocking on the outside.
January 25, 200818 yr Just quoting Joker when I spoke to him in December. Right now, Pulley is No. 1 with Hartline a close second. Yes, that was an insightful quote. That probably is the order. Not so much insightful though. I'd like to hear you think it is.
January 25, 200818 yr That probably is the order. Not so much insightful though. I'd like to hear you think it is. Personally, I feel that it is going to depend on the Receivers. Kentucky has to find another one or two for their rotation to join Lyons, Ford, and Lanxter. If they find them in the spring, I think it is Curtis. If they don't, I feel he splits time and Hartline and Lentz battle it out. The UK staff really likes Curtis at QB. They feel his passing has improved enough to keep defenses honest.
February 3, 200818 yr I saw the Blue-White Spring game last year. Hartline looked small, slow, and weak armed, but I had just seen Woodson, who a lot of players looked that way against. I have seen Pulley play in the past, and he seems to be the better QB. Off feild issues, all I have heard are laziness ones. Any one have any more info on it?
February 4, 200818 yr Actually, Mike Hartline has very nice size for a quarterback. He is listed at 6'6. When he arrived at UK he was very thin, but has gained adequate weight. He is not slow afoot, but does not have much quickness. His arm strength is not outstanding, but improving. Curtis Pulley is a better talent, in my opinion.
February 4, 200818 yr What does Pulley do if he isn't named the starter? Will he gracefullly accept a starting WR position (where I feel he is better suited anyway)? Anyone have any insight on this possible situation?
