Maybe it has more to do with just a personal distaste for Bono and his political activism? Wouldn't be the first time you've discounted a band/artist because of philosophical clashes. :sssh: On the contrary, I like most political songs; it's just when artists get on their political soapbox during a concert that I get hacked off. I just have never heard a song by U2 worth giving a second listen to.
January 22, 200818 yr Try doing the lyrics to the tune of "House of the Rising Sun" or the theme from "Gilligan's Island". Both work well. Actually our Praise Band does Amazing Grace to the music of the Eagles' Peaceful Easy Feeling. It's a perfect match and we even use the chorus of PEF: And I've Got a Peaceful Easy Feeling And I know He Won't let me down, Cause I'm already standing, On Solid Ground. It's always great to play it to a group that has never heard it before and the looks they have during the first verse like: "I know this tune, what is it?" Then to see their faces on the first time we do the chorus.

January 22, 200818 yr First of all, anything Heavy Metal tops the list. Otherwise, the two songs that really get me are, and I am dating myself, "Billy, Don't Be a Hero" and "Wildfire". I feel better already.

January 22, 200818 yr I enjoy all practically all musical genres (excluding RAP which is not music and heavy metal which I think is the devil personified ---or should I say musified!?) I personally like the old standard ballads and broadway classics---torch songs----I also like true bluegrass and even classical. I sing inspirational/contemporary Christian though --- (Sandi Patty, Steve Green, Ray Boltz, etc.) I am all over the board in what I enjoy listening too. If it is done well, I like it.
January 22, 200818 yr That's from Kansas and I liked them in their day. "Dust in the Wind" was another of their hits. I like Dust in the Wind... but COMWS is just painful to my ears. And have I mentioned REO Speedwagon yet? Because I curse myself for even remembering that they exist.
January 22, 200818 yr Songs that most people love, but I hate. Hmm..... 1) Feliz Navidad song. This song alone makes me hate Christmas. When I hear it I want to jump out of the window. I literally cringe when I hear it.
January 22, 200818 yr Why? The tune drives me up the wall and the lyrics just don't seem to do much for me. Again I have been involved in liturgical music for about 10 years now, so I am not just some random non-practicing person saying I don't like it. :thumb:

Y'know, I get to thinking that a lot, but I picked up the new North Mississippi All-Stars and Drive-By Truckers albums today, and both are fantastic, and very innovative. The problem is that too many people today are unwilling to dig for some good music, instead being content to slog through the crap commercial radio spoon-feeds them.
