Mason Co 74 Lexington Catholic 73

Should have also had Setty's picture in the local paper today. He's the one who brought them back into the game . You could also had Middleton's picture for his shooting in the first half. ANYONE AGREE?

There were about 100 fouls that weren't called, maybe more. ANYONE AGREE?

Explain this to us?

I will help explain IMO. If Miller had not been allowed to get by with the fouls Mason would not have won. In the replay on one of his fouls you could see the LC player had the ball and Miller reached in and had hold of both of the LC player hands causing him to loose the ball and the ref called a jump ball, giving Mason possession.

Watching on DVR right now, classic game! Congratz to Mason!

DVR cut out after Catholic hit the free throw with 8.1 seconds left......ouch :flame:

Are you serious? Miller get by with fouls I doubt. Hudson hates him. If he had tried to dominate the game earlier he would have sent him to the bench. That little #1 for Catholic got by with numerous reach in fouls and one of Samford's was given to another player. Hudson's call on Setty at the end of the game was purely a blament attempt to get the ball back to Catholic. No one is asking for all the calls, just that games are called CONSISTANTLY!!!!

Trust me Mason Co knows that on most nights they are playing 5 against 6 or 7 and sometimes 8.

I have to disagree with these statements. Hudson is a very good official. Yes they made some bad calls that were magnified because they came late in a close game, but to make these type of comments are a little overboard IMO. If Coach O'Hearn really felt that an official hates Darius as you proclaim, I'm sure that he would scratch him to keep him from doing Mason Co. games. As for the no timeout call involving Setty, I actually think more blame should go to Angelucci than to Hudson. When Setty signaled for the timeout, he was facing Angelucci and had his back to Hudson who couldn't see him signal and was watching his feet. IMO this was a situation where the three officials should have gotten together and made the right call. But both Angelucci and Blevins had a better view of Setty calling the timeout, even though Hudson was closer.

Bottom line....there were some missed calls both ways in this game. It was a good game between two great teams. Congrats Royals!

Everyone on here needs to stop crying about the officiating. There is not a fan or team out there in any game that thinks they get a fair shake with officiating, but that is part of it. These are both two really good teams and they have a chance to play again. I believe that Catholic has a tougher road to get there, but they have the team to do it. This game reminded me of the first one, but with the opposite team being down by a lot and coming back to win. These are two really good teams, so give them some credit and stop the whinning. By the way, some of you on here have mentioned LUCK. Well, I believe that it takes a little luck to win it all, so you want to be lucky.

I dont believe coaches have anything to say about the selection of referees as assignments are made an independent coordinator or maybe a committee but the coach is not involved at all.

Looks like Hudson is up to his tricks from last year when referrring MC games. Hudson refereed in the 10 Regional finals last year and made many bad calls. The most ridiculous one was not calling an over and back when Preston Knowles had the ball slip out of his hand close to half court in the front court and the ball went into the back court. Hudson who didnt call anything. The only way Hudson can make this call is for Knowles to be shooting the ball as it isnt over and back if the plalyer is shooting. Knowles was standing near half court, sideways to the basket when the ball slipped out of his hand and no way could even Knowles shoot from that angle.

Just hope Hudson is not assigned to the 10th regional tourney this year.

I really enjoyed this game. Congrats to Mason Co on a huge win.:thumb: Setty kept Mason Co in the game, what a player, I love this kid. I was really impressed with his play. Also enjoyed watching the Freshman Pawsat? play. Going to be a good one.

The dunk by Stewart was the play of the game on Ch 27....awesome. With Vee Sanford having to battle the cramps really hurt Catholic. He is the one that shot the 3 that beat MC earlier. This was the turning point of the game....not all the missed calls for Catholic. The turning point of the game for Mason Co was the great plays by Miller in the 4th.

The dunk in particular by Miller was the momentum boost, but points that Mason could not do without were the 2-3 point baskets by Setty.

Catholics push ahead actually came without the services of Sanford and Novesell on the benchh in the 3rd quarter. Sanford would have helped but actually the push for Catholic came without him.

To be honest, what hurt Lex Cath in this one sounds like poor play from their top shooter Jordan Smart. Four points from a guy who you hope can fill it up from three point land isn't good. I think Jordan will rebound but he needs to get a bit more aggressive in his game.

Still, this sounds like a heck of a game I missed cause I was out of town.

LC got a break when MC called a Time Out and the offical said he steped out of bounds with 20 seconds left up by 2. I thought there were alot of Blown calls but hey the 2 top teams in the Commonwealth going down to the wire what more do you want. I also think it says alot about Mason to be able to play with LC when Miller struggled for mainly 3 quarters . A very nice win for MC, who knows Maybe the 10th and 11th will square off in the First round of the sweet 16???? Guess we will have to wait till FEB.1

Good point. They had that chance last week when Scott County was struggling and Darius fouled out, but couldn't make the most of that opportunity. Against LexCath, they did. Setty was HUGE. And Miller does what good players do, took over when needed. Big statement from MC and O'Hearn after Catholic overcame a big lead the first time around. I'm with everyone else, I hope they can meet a third time at state.

Not true. While there is an assigning secretary over the officials that determine their game assignments, every coach has the ability to scratch an official that he may have a problem with. This keeps the scratched offical from working any of that team's games for the entire season. Obviously there is a limit as to how many a coach can scratch, I'm not sure of the number. If Mason County's coach thought that there was an official that hated Darius Miller as another poster stated earlier, I'm sure that he would be the first name on the scratch list.

It would've been great to have ANY picture from this game in the local paper; then again, that would mean a photographer from said paper would've had to make the trip to Lexington. Not to mention a writer. Sad state of affairs that a legitimate state contender doesn't have any support from the town's local newspaper.
