Simmer down now.

Stick to the subject of College Basketball's crappiest coaches.

Please explain his success in quickly turning around UTEP and A&M. Did both of these schools have GREAT talent when he arrived?
When a person switches jobs, they are judged by their new employer on the performance on their new job. Gillespie has earned a D at best so far as the University of Kentucky basketball coach.
NCAA coaching = apples

NBA coaching = grapes

There are more similarities than differences. The biggest difference is that the talent gap between the NBA's best teams and its worst teams is much smaller than the gap between the NCAA's best teams and Gardner Web.

All this hate for BCG.

You people just don't like him because he is a Texan

Nah.. they just hate white people. ;)

For as good as he is at reeling in big time players, Leonard Hamilton hasn't done much at FSU.

Just Kidding

First, no one goes very far without talent, period. Some waste it, some do more with less, but no one can win without it.

Second, to even mention Tarkanian on this thread is beyond ridiculous. Many great college coaches have "flamed out" in the NBA. Tark spent 19 of his 31 years at UNLV and had an unbelieveable winning percentage there but also won at Long Beach and Fresno State (with some else's "cards" he was dealt).

Tark was 9-11 before he got fired. John Lucas, who had no coaching experience took over and led the Spurs to a 39-22 record the rest of the way and into the Western Conference semifinals. Tark was a cheat who got caught repeatedly by the NCAA. UNLV's success had little to do with Tark's coaching ability. Tark would be on my all time list of bad coaches.

Of active coaches, I would also put Leonard Hamilton high on my list of bad coaches. He would be a great recruiter on somebody's staff.

"Yeah, this is John Brady from LSU ... and I just wanted to complain about how that gametime guy is treating me ... and I've gotta object to the suggestion that my program's dirty ... and this is John Brady from LSU ... and one more thing ... do you know who you're messing with? ... This is John Brady from LSU ..."

I'm going to have to go with who ever Florida State's head coach is. It seems like year in year out these guys are getting quality players and can't do much with them.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Brady and Mike Gottfried...I'll go with Gottfried.

At least Brady got LSU to Final Four.
