HDE who is on the HC schedule? People in Harlan are saying that Hazard may not play the bears.

We ran the tentative schedule a few days ago. I've heard Hazard was questionable, Casey already dropped out and Lynn Camp may be changing its mind.

Right now I think so. But if you come up with a great hire and things go better than most outside of the county think in the transition, then maybe not.

 

Kid vs Kid ,no ...you will have just as many as they will. That's not always all you need.

 

What about if Larkey is the hire? Then all games besides district will probably change or try to be changed.

Larkey had a long playing history with Bell. It would be nice to see the coaching rivalry revived with Bell County playing Harlan County.

There are only 2 weeks that Harlan County can schedule a game, week 1 and week 11. They need one of those 2, more if a team in VA doesn't add them. I'm sure Bell County will be on the schedule but I doubt this year is a possibility. Not playing Hazard is a real disappointment.

Why is Harlan Co not playing Harlan High this year? If not then that leaves them 3 opponents lacking. Are any of those spots filled with an opponent? For those in the know, if you speculate, then who are the candidates for those 3 spots and what is the chances or likelihood of each making the final schedule? For example: Lynn Camp 60% Hazard 20% Gate City, VA 50%

*I'd assume if any of the other teams drop they have to pay to get out of the contract. Not sure if any of them want to anyway.

*Harland Ind. is a small school, that may have something to do with, having to compete against larger competition. Hard to blame them for that.

*The only game really that needs to be filled is week 1, a HOME game.

They will play Lexington Catholic in the Bluegrass Bowl to Kick off the season. I

think in the first game it is Green County vs. Hazard. That is the what I have been

That would be a very good win for the program to start things out with. No better way to find out what your program is about than test them out of the gates like this.

Thanks 3W. I would think a Harlan/Harlan Co game would be big money but I understand why the smaller school may want no part of it.

 

Too bad Hazard is out, that would have been an interesting game.

 

In 2007, Pike Co Central played Cumberland and Williamsburg played Cumberland and Evarts. Maybe one of those teams would be a good pick up.

 

I've heard East Carter / Belfry may not be a done deal in week 10, so one of those may be a possibility although if that happens I think Belfry may try to revive their game with Ironton. Plus I don't know if Belfry would really want to play a potential playoff opponent that late in the year, or Harlan Co either for that matter. East Carter would be a good game for Harlan Co, and they would probably travel since Belfry played them at their place last year.

 

Wow if the LexCath/Harlan Co rumor has any teeth to it, that would be a heck of a way for a new coach, new school, new team to start off their legacy. Big time.

I know there was a lot of excitement around Harlan about playing the Bulldogs on opening day. Too bad it can't happen. Hazard is I'm sure wanting more Lexington PUB too to showcase their talent though, so playing at that Bowl game is perfect for them.
