You caught me off guard with this one. Maybe you know something that the rest of us doesn't. I have been out and about but still haven't heard Larkey's name mentioned.

I agree 100% Scatbackskin. If what I am hearing about the Football meeting last week is true I think it shows the kids are already past the hard feelings.

If I am not mistaken I believe that was JUST grades 10-12. So based on numbers coming out the kids are READY!!!

One of the big things IMO will be that Harlan County High will be able to field a Freshman team with games on Thursday and also a JV with games on Mondays. If the numbers hold up I would be in favor of having two teams either Freshmen or Jv if the numbers allows. Does anyone else do this in football. I have seen in Basketball where schools have played Two different teams on both the JV and Froshmen levels.

I doubt I know any more than you on the next coach. I think it's crucial to have both freshman and JV teams and play a FULL schedule. That also needs to be done in basketball, and I think it will.

I know Bell County doesm what about Middlesboro, Leslie, Breathitt, etc? If no one near you plays it is hard to fill a schedule. Most school districts won't allow long 9th-11th games to be played on the road.

We're less than 20 miles from the Virginia line. There are some teams over there that could be candidates. Harlan County is in a junior high league with teams from Lee County, Va.

I see a problem with this as well. Perhaps the freshman team could play up and play a seperate JV schedule. However, you probobly would be looking at needing to hire more coaches to do so. That coupled with scheduling conflicts could cause some problems. I don't know of any teams around the area with freshman squads

If you have Bell, Knox, Letcher, Leslie, Corbin, North, South, Lee High, Clay, and Maybe a Lynn Camp. That would be 10 Freshmen games off the top of my head. Then the schools that may not have enough for a Freshmen team usually will play a JV team with a combo of players. I really don't see a problem with having a 10 game Freshmen and 10 game JV schedule for next year but I guess we will just have to wait and see. A lot of teams in Tenn. will play a Freshmen and JV conference with a playoff and the whole 9 yards.

This maybe something that the bigger schools around this area might want to look at for the coming year. I can see some real positives with a conference and playoff system if for nothing else to create some excitement and give the younger kids something to achieve while they are working to contribute on the varsity in the coming years.

I agree with alot of the above. I think that a full freshmen and JV schedule will only benefit. Way too often, mountain teams lack the personnel to fill a full Frosh and B team schedule and it hurts them in the long run.
