When will NKY go Smoke Free?

Featured Replies

I cant tell you how disgusted I get anymore when I walk into a NKY restaurant or bar hoping to enjoy a bite to eat or drink while watching a game but only get an abundance of 2nd hand smoke. It seems all of the Ohio people are fleeing like cockroaches over to KY to smoke in bars/ restaurants. I am guessing business is not hurting but the fact that NKY hasnt jumped on the nationwide bandwagon is definitely keeping many non-smokers away.

Get with the program, we dont enjoy inhaling smoke when eating our food. Any others feel the same way? You wanna smoke, fine. Stay home and smoke it up and watch your game. Nobody should have to inhale your carcinogens.

Don't go to those places....don't worry NKY will do the un-American thing and take away the business owners' rights too.

:thumb::thumb:Perhaps they'll go smoke free along with beer free, whiskey free, french fries free, toilet paper free, car free, truck free.....I really am not joking here. If we don't stop them somewhere they, the government, will be telling you what color of underwear to wear on what day.

I understand 2nd hand smoke - truly I do but this has got to stop somewhere or we won't have any rights at all. If people don't want to eat in a place where there is smoking allowed.......don't go there. If I don't want to be around people who are drinking I just don't go where they are. I am not a big supporter of drugs so therefore, I just don't hang with people who do drugs. It's a choice that we all make.

I am sick and tired of being told by people sitting around a table at city hall what I can and can't do:irked: And before I am asked the "question" am I a smoker....yes I am. But you can ask BF and RTS if they knew I was a smoker until I told them. The answer would be no and I have eaten a few meals with them. We sat in a smoke free area and not once did I complain to anyone that my rights as a smoker was taken away from me.

Absolutely! Hopefully, our area will join the growing tide of common sense and common courtesy very soon! :ylsuper:

Soon I hope .

I don't sit in a smoking area with my family to eat. I don't go to bar's, so I'm sorry about the smoke. I refuse to go to Cincinnati due to non-smoking policy in a public place (in free outdoor air space.)

I am a non smoker and eat in restaurants in the non smoking sections. I personally do not notice the smoke from the smokers section. However, I know an asthmatic who cannot walk into a restaurant where someone is smoking.

That being said, I think restaurants should be non smoking. Bars? That is a different story.

I think it should be left up to individual business owner's. If i use my own money to start up a bar/restaurant, work my tail off in establishing it, and pay the local and state taxes for it, then I should be able to decide if I want to allow smoking in my establishment. I own the place, just like I own my home. If I want to allow people to smoke, drink, talk in nothing but Pig Latin, or whatever in my business, it should be my right as an owner and taxpayer to do so. If someone doesn't like the fact that I allow smoking in my establishment, they don't have to eat there. I promise I won't miss their business.

It has to be up to the owner, not the government. That person should feel free to inform the owner that they won't get their services, and I am sure each owner will be free to make their own decision based on their customer's preferences.

I don't smoke and hate the smell of it, but don't need no government tell everyone what to do.

Good point:thumb:

Non smokers such as myself have the choice of going somewhere else...That is smoke free...

That's what I call Freedom of Choice...USA...

If the owner of a restaurant sells the customer foods that are unhealthy for them isn't that as bad as second hand smoke...The bottom line is it's all about the government protecting us from ourselves...

How many people have a choice when they are killed by a drunk driver who just left the non smoking bar?I know that drinking and driving is against the law but someone had to sell it to them...

If the government is banning things that we do that hurt other people we need to load up the government bandwagon up...:fire:

Let's just pull it all- and I do mean all. No smoking - drinking - no fatty food's - so salt or salsa. Good time's

I will also add...

The nonsmokers responce is if a Non smoker enters a business that allows smoking that they have no choice but to breathe the second hand smoke...

My solution...Business's that allow smoking should have to post a BIG SIGN at the front door that says Smoking Allowed enter at your on risk...

What happend to the signs that say Microwave in Use...I never see those any more...

Maybe most nonsmokers us a Microwave...I know I do...:thumb:

Sounds like the good old soviet Union to me...:dancingpa

But when I go into a restaurant, I'm not forced to eat the fatty food off your plate. The bottom line is it's not about the government protecting us from ourselves. It's about protecting us from others. Just like the laws against drinking and driving and against selling alcohol to an intoixicated driver.
