That person should feel free to inform the owner that they won't get their services, and I am sure each owner will be free to make their own decision based on their customer's preferences. I don't smoke and hate the smell of it, but don't need no government tell everyone what to do. God bless you. And I don't smoke.

It's about protecting us from others. Just like the laws against drinking and driving and against selling alcohol to an intoixicated driver. No one forced you to go into the restaurant. If you think its dangerous because of the second hand smoke, don't go in. Its that simple.

Its that simple.No, what's simple is for a smoker to wait the brief amount of time it takes to visit a restaurant before lighting up again. It kills me to hear this ringing of the liberty bell without the least bit of thought as to the implications. Taking the Republican, "small-government" tack doesn't ALWAYS produce the best results. I think we've seen plenty of examples of that lately. Government sometimes MUST regulate.That's what it's there for. If we followed this Libertarian way of thinking, there would be no laws at all. Hopefully though, there are enough right thinking people in this area that something can be done. If people don't care enough to think of others, then maybe the government has a responsibility to do it for them!
January 14, 200818 yr I cant tell you how disgusted I get anymore when I walk into a NKY restaurant or bar hoping to enjoy a bite to eat or drink while watching a game but only get an abundance of 2nd hand smoke. It seems all of the Ohio people are fleeing like cockroaches over to KY to smoke in bars/ restaurants. I am guessing business is not hurting but the fact that NKY hasnt jumped on the nationwide bandwagon is definitely keeping many non-smokers away. Get with the program, we dont enjoy inhaling smoke when eating our food. Any others feel the same way? You wanna smoke, fine. Stay home and smoke it up and watch your game. Nobody should have to inhale your carcinogens. I was talking to Spiros the other day at the Chili Parlor and he said it will happen and he will be the 1st one to enforce it. Of all places!!!!! Oh and by the way he brought it up, not me.

I am a non smoker...I feel good that I can make my own choices...I don't need the Government to do it for me...

January 14, 200818 yr It really is that simple.Actualy, it's really not that simple at all. Wish that it was. All businesses, given the option, will try to cater to widest audiance possible. That's just good business. But sometimes, one small group's preferences directly impact another group. What the law does is level the field. It allows a business to do the right thing without the need to worry about being placed at a disadvantage to it's competition
