This is exactly what I said just in different words. The football field is not wide enough nor can they expand it to accomadate the width. Where would the money come from. They can't raise enough money now to pay the man who paid for the football field, do you think they are going to spend more money to make the field wider? I don't think so.

 

I am w/Beechwoodfan, I am sorry I got started on this thread. It just bothers me that soooo many outsiders get involved and have no idea what is actually going on. It will get voted on again and it will be voted down again, I would be willing to bet that! Hope everyone has fun going back and forth w/this but I am done, thank you.

:confused:With all due respect isn't that what everyone does on BGPs?Discuss various issues at all schools and give a wide range of opinions and thoughts. Obviously we won't all agree on every issue but I don't think that Beechwood should suddenly be some sort of Sacred Cow that we aren't allowed to have an opinion about. By all means correct me if I'm wrong but appears that some are taking the issue of soccer way to personal. Remember it's for the kids..

:thumb:Agree. Every other football field in NKY seems suitable for playing soccer. Why wouldn't that nice new field of Beechwoods be sufficient to meet the needs of a soccer program.

Baloney!!! According to the Khsaa website the minimum a high school soccer field can be is 100 yards goal line to goal line and 55 yards touchline to touchline ,while a football field is as everyone knows is also 100 yards goal line to goal line with 30' deep endzones and is 53 yards 1'wide . You are telling us that you can't squeeze out another 2 1/2 feet on each side line of Beechwood's football field to get to the minimum width ,and if it is too small in length are you telling us that Beechwood has been playing on an undersized football field all these years .

 

Its already enough. Its 53 yards sideline to sideline. You than have 2 yards on each sideline to the "get back" line so that gives you 57 yards before you even take into account the bench area.

You are not listening... The MINIMUM dimensions of a soccer field are 50 yards wide by 100 yards in length.

Fact, you can't just paint over top of the existing field. The new lines would have to be re-cut and that will not happen. Like I said before, where would the money come from? The man who paid for the field is still waiting for his money and the school can not afford to go into any further debt. Education is the first concern. There is alot more involved that all you experts don't know about but maybe all the pro soccer fans will tell the paper and the real facts will come out.

1. All parents want their children's teams to be successful but its not ONLY about winning nor should it be. The fact that BW might struggle in soccer is 100% irrelevant to the issue.

You are correct (although I am sure you meant can't instead of can), you can paint over top of the existing field (new lines do NOT have to be recut, water based paint is used all the time on these fields).

 

I agree there are many issues involved here, but you are not bringing many of them up (and if you choose to NOT to do so for whatever reason, I am fine with that too, but the reasons you are bringing up have been found to be false).

It seems these two sentences contradict each other. If education is first concern, why is the school purchasing athletic fields they cannot afford?

NDA has played some of their "home" matches there. It has also been used as a somewhat "neutral" post season site.
