January 8, 200818 yr Pretty good post...However I still would like to know what you clarify as a good team in any sport? Because it seems I always see you say on here, about just almost any team on how that team is a pretty good team actually. When a lot of them are usually just average at best. Because OSU did not beat some pretty good teams this year, they beat some pretty average teams this year for the second year in a row. When they actually ran up against a good team, they have gotten beaten two years in a row... Penn State? Purdue? Wisconsin? Michigan? Last year - Texas, Michigan, Penn State. We HAVE beat some pretty good and solid teams this season, and you can't say that we haven't. I know that we didn't play a SEC like conference but come on, this is a pretty tough conference. It may be down to some of you but it's not easy going into the Penn State game with over 100,000 fans doing the white out. It's also not easy to beat Michigan in Ann Arbor, especially how the Buck's did it this year. Sure, two years in a row SEC teams have beat us, but it's OK. I still think a playoff system would solve all of this, no stupid lay offs or anything like that. Not making excuses but you know you would like it a lot better that way. I don't want to sound like a sore loser, but I am just saying. Ohio State did play some pretty good teams this season, and they did beat some pretty good teams this season...

January 8, 200818 yr How can you say they belong in the game. They got spanked and it wasn't even fun to watch. I think you would even admit that USC and UGA would beat OSU. So that puts them at #4 at best (imo) so how does that allow them to earn a shot in the NC. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Prior to OK getting thumped by WVU, almost everyone said they belonged in. Now, not so much. I will admit that USC and UGA would probably beat OSU, however. They each lost 2, deuce, two, a couple of reg. season games. One each to a very lousy football team. See USC/Stanford or UGA/South Carolina. As I stated in another post. The BCS is set up to reward great play ALLseason long, not just the last two or three games of the year. Facts are Facts, Ohio State EARNED the right to play for the NC. Are the currently the best team in the country? No. But, I repeat, They earned the right to be there. If Georgia or USC wanted to be in the game, then maybe they should try to beat So. Carolina and Stanford next season.

Penn State ( 9-4 ), Michigan ( 9-4 ), Wisconsin ( 9-4 ), Purdue ( 8-5 ) 3 of those teams won their bowl games. Those 4 teams alone have a combined record of 35-17. Those are pretty good teams. As for UK, all of those wins are great wins...

UL a great win?? Maybe from a rivalry perspective but that's about it. We all know the story behind the FSU win, and UK still struggled to get the W against FSU's squad that was severely depleted. LSU was a great win. Arkansas was a great win given where UK has been as a program. PSU, Wisconsin and Michigan are all solid wins over GOOD football teams. I won't stretch for Purdue. If you claim they are not, then how bad does that reflect on UK or the SEC, as one of these "bad" teams was able to easily beat Florida? The key here is that OSU did not have "great" LOSSES. They didn't lose to Miss. St., Stanford, etc, etc. In a war of attrition, OSU lost the least......
January 8, 200818 yr Did USC and UGA take care of business during the regular season? Did OSU play anybody in the regular season? USC should be the most disappointed because of their loss to might Stanford. WVU should be pretty upset over losing to Pitt (how did that happen?).

Compared to who other than the SEC? The Pac - 10? Given USC is better than any in the Big 10, then who? Oregon? Sure, if they had Dixon healthy. Of course if UM had Hart and Henne healthy........ The Pac 10 EVERY YEAR is much like the Big 10 was this year, top heavy with no real depth after the top 3 or 4. Pretty comparable conferences IMO. The ACC? Seriously? Do I have to answer this? The Big East? WVU had a solid team. Everyone wrote them off as a pretender too though after losing to Pitt. Now they beat OU and they should have played for the title? South Florida was exposed in the same manner that OSU was. Louisville? Again, one big team does not make the conference as a whole better than the Big 10. If that was the case then the Big 10 had two big teams last year, so by that logic, they'd be the best in all the land (which of course was not the case). The Big 12? I would concede this, although the Big 12 representatives fared much worse against outside competition in bowls than did the Big 10. OU was embarrassed in their big bowl, just as the Big 10 was in their 2 big bowls. The bottom line is that while the Big 10 certainly wasn't up to snuff with the SEC this year, they also certainly are not some patsy of a conference just above the "non-BCS" conferences. They were down, admittedly so, as OSU didn't even expect to make the title game this year. But even in a down year they were comparable to the rest of the BCS conferences.

The rules give you an outcome that you don't like at the end of the game, and you..........want to change the rules? :lol: Rules were the same for everyone. Of course I've come to realize that nothing will appease you SEC guys, save me saying that every 2 loss SEC team that choked off a game should get in over any 1 loss team from the Big 10. The title game the last two years has shown that the Big 10 is a fraud... BIGTIME. OSU was supposed to be the #1 D going into both games... Florida puts up over 40 and LSU puts up 38... IT IS BECAUSE THE BIG 10 IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 8, 200818 yr And I'm going to say that you that you should thank your lucky stars that OSU is not in the SEC. OSU in the SEC this year would have meant a middle of the pack finish at best. OSU goes down this year and last as the title pretenders not contenders and it would be a shame if they wind up at #2 in the polls after getting man handled in this game and playing a schedule that is oh so weak Probably the truest statement (Big Ten Fans, The truth is the truth) I've seen on BGP
January 8, 200818 yr In the Big Ten/SEC comparison thread I said OSU would lose 3 to 5 this season in the SEC. Seeing as how LSU lost two, and was clearly the better team. Would any Big Ten fans now like to call me out as you did before the title game??????
